Father Cries For Justice Over Daughter's SUDDEN Death At Chrisland High School Inter House Sports....

CHRISLAND HIGH SCHOOL AGAIN????

Chrisland High School,Lagos is embroiled in another case of unexplained child negligence which has resulted in the death of a young girl and the father is calling for justice for his daughter who died during the school's inter-house sports competition.

" My name is Michael Adeyemi Adeniran.
This is me coming out to seek help of dignitaries and those that have power to help me and not let the death of my daughter (Whitney Adeniran) go just like that.
It happened that my daughter attend Chrisland High School and it was their inter-house sport event yesterday (Thursday 9th Feb 2023) and she dressed up from home, healthy with no health condition or sickness at all. The school bus came to pick her up to the venue of the event at Agege stadium. So my wife later dressed up and went to attend the event. When she got there, she noticed she didn't see our daughter in the midst of the students that is marching or partaking in the activities.
.
Then she began to look for her, asking the students and the teachers about her, and then she noticed a gathering of students surrounding themselves like something is going on so she walked towards the place to ask about our daughter. But while she was walking down to the place, she noticed the school bus took speed out of the school and she was still complaining that why will the school bus speed out like that where there are many students. But when she get there and show a student her daughter's picture that she is looking for her, then the student said she is the one that's been rushed out now in the school bus. Then she had to quickly locate a teacher and asked what happened and she was told that she slumped. She called me immediately and told me they said our daughter slumped and they have taken her to the hospital that I should be coming right away while she head to the hospital.
.
While getting to where they took her to, it was a health center. Their excuse was that because of traffic to get to the hospital, they had to take her to the health center and they told my wife our daughter is dead.

.
I got there myself and was asking questions, they couldn't answer me, because I saw her body down, the eyes, lips and face is already dark in less than an hour. Then I faced the nurse that they called while she was still in school to check her. I asked her what happened. She said to be sincere, by the time she got to the school, she was already dead but she couldn't pronounce her dead because she is not a doctor, that's why she allowed them to bring her to the health center first and since then I have been asking Chrisland School to tell me what happened to my daughter. But they are saying they don't know that she just slumped and died. Ahhhh please come to my aid.
.
This needs to be the last time Chrisland staff will kill a child because of their negligence and incompetence. I paid heavily in this school and they couldn't get a first aid on standby for their inter-house or pay proper attention to the students."

What happened to Whitney? We need to know, this is too much already!!!

    1. The said was allegedly electrocuted by one of the vendors popcorn machines.
So they dint even confirm the safety of each of the machines presented, they probably just collected money from the said vendor without proper investigation.
Also pouring water on a child who just got electrocuted is what I don’t understand.
The girls mum was present so why not call her aside and inform her, they let her watch other kids perform, she even asked the principal and that one couldn’t even provide the right address where her daughter was taken to.
The lackadaisical attitude in which everything was handled is just a shame. Then you claim she had heart attack…

How can a school not have a medical team on ground during sporting events ( even my local secondary school had ambulance back then)

Why are these schools so nonchalant and why do they lie?
Then they are saying the mum should just bury her child, like people pluck kids from trees

    2. God help us parents. May her soul rest in peace. I think,it's time, christland school starts being held up for all their fuck ups. Children keep dying there, and gullible parents still send their wards there. May our eyes be open to what's proper and not follow trend.

  2. The pressure they put on these kids during intercourse sports ehn. I witnessed one where they asked young kids to run round a football pitch as warm up, I wasn't running, but I was stressed. Some will stand at assembly for over 30mins, and start crouching whenever they are tired of standing.

    3. BB you are very right. My daughter came back Thursday, and told me she was selected by her school track team to go compete in another school interhouse sport on Saturdays. Told her no,called the principal and told hi. She would not attend. Notice was too short, and can't accompany her. Would not leave my child unsupervised, can't bear stories that touch.

    5. We went through all of that, except you want them to attend assembly on the bed, and most of these kids eat rubbish in the name of rich children. I went through the boarding school, it was like a military school, and not one of us died while I was there. Too much pampering doesn't guarantee a long life.

  4. Sad but the school could be right as well. I guess an independent body should conduct an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.

I'm sure the school didn't set out to kill the young girl. Unfortunately, they'd be judged by their past without even hearing their own side of the story.

The segment you want to partake in whether match pass or athletics or kalitenics not by force participation as instructed by the house master or mistress. The stress wasn't much after all its for the pupils to have fun not as they are not professionals but now na over do some schools dey do

  7. I hope I don't end up sounding insensitive. People that leave their homes seemingly healthy slump and die all the time.

I actually don't see any negligence or incompetence here at the moment. I believe an autopsy should be conducted first and then if the school is culpable, actions can then be taken against the school.

It's such a sad thing though for the family. May the little girl Rest in peace

    6. An autopsy is very traumatising, especially when done on a child. Imagine cutting a child's body open and taking it apart and exploring and searching to see what happened and then sewing it all up afterward and giving it back to the family..

Please be very cautious when calling Autopsy Autopsy, up and down.

The school should have had a nurse on standby, and the school doctor should have been called immediately this happened and rushed the child to the hospital, even if the child was seemingly healthy and just slumped.

    7. @Ekay, I beg to be different on this issue.

It's negligence ok their part cuz a school that charges more than what other schools charges should have an emergency unit(mobile emergency unit) provided at any occasion.

What is first AID if I may ask? It is the first treatment given to a victim of accident, injury etc before such individual is being taken to the hospital.

Also, professionals are employed as a first aider most especially in a school built and meant for the rich.

    8. The child might have undiagnosed heart condition and the stress of the inter house sport must have worsened the situation, hence the cardiac arrest. If an ambulance was on ground, she wouldnt have died, they would have placed her on oxygen. In conclusion, she died as a result of the school's negligence.

    9. Professional sports people do slump and die on the pitch even with Medical unit present, they will just get there and certify him or her dead. People slump and die in their house, office, car , etc. It is not unusual but in this case, the school did not have a medical unit on ground which makes people to question their competence. Maybe the girl would have survived if they had one.

My niece is in that school and I for one don’t support her being there nor the school. During the primary school inter house sports on the 23rd of January (they even suddenly brought it forward because it was meant to be this February), I kept on voicing my concern on the kids being kept in an open field under harsh sun to later participate in other activities. No ambulance nor first aid tent was in sight.

Chrisland needs to be brought to book. Shake their foundation. The girl’s parents should bring out money and get a very good lawyer. So many odds against the school. They should sue them to their core so it will pain them also.

  17. As usual sentiments and emotions overtake reasoning. Can we learn to make autopsy a norm? Can we allow pathologists to investigate cause of death before jumping into conclusions? The girl may have medical conditions that are undiagnosed.

For institutions like Chrisland, going forward, require parents to go to a designated medical facility for annual physical and medical examination of their wards. Let ur medical staff have the medical records of all students.

Doctors and nurses are not magicians. They can’t know what they don’t know. That’s why when you go to the hospital they ask you questions.

  20. I don't want to be insensitive but as a parent once, your child is in a school and a student dies, and you see the school trying to keep the news silent and the parents are calling them out, and they are not be open about it, only trying to protect their name, whatever amount you have paid or term they are withdraw all your kids ASAP, once people start doing this in large numbers, they will have to address the issue and sit with the parents of the deceased child. But because it didn't happen to our child, we think ours is save, how can the government close down a school, for investigation and the next day the school moves classes online you as a parent allows your child to continue. Mass withdrawal from such schools is the only solution and a way of showing solidarity. But no our people will keep their kids there and be paying exorbitant fees.

    1. Thank you and you too anon 12:14. One thing I noticed is most people are selfish as long as it doesn't affect them they bone face, okay, see what has happened to this parent now.

After everything that happened to that boy, I can't believe other parents still left their children there. Did they use jazz to tie you, people, to that school? Or is the school free?

There is no solidarity among most Nigerians. As long as they are safe and not affected they don't care what happens to others going through pain till it hits them. I am sure by now if she presently has other children in that school she won't waste time moving them out asap and transferring them to another school while the other parents feeling unaffected will still keep their own children there despite reading of these numerous cases.

At this point, the problem is not the school but the lackadaisical parents who can't take a cue and who can't feel the pain of other parents and put themselves in their shoes.

  22. Parents who still have their wards in that school have no one but themselves to blame for whatever that happens to their kids because whyyyy? Why do you still have your kids in a school that has repeatedly shown itself not to give a hoot about the welfare of your kids ?!

I don’t even understand! I don’t ! And yet parents will still keep their kids in this school till another tragedy happens which happens to be them and they will rant about the school like the school hasn’t shown their true character.

  23. In Nigeria, must people don't like going to the hospital, at best they go to the chemist. Those who chose to go to the hospitals go to private hospital where they will eventually be referred to a general hospital or a teaching hospital. Before the beginning of a new term I take my kids to the hospital, I do same when they are on mid term. If you telling the world your child was healthy, how did you know? What's the point of paying millions per term for primary and secondary education for schools that do not have clinics, no qualified nurses, no permanent or visiting doctors. Yes, the school was negligent and they will go all out to spew lies . Government will close the school, reopen within weeks, till another child dies. It's now a vicious circle

  30. Tomorrow is Monday,if the school opens tomorrow many children will resume school for the week tomorrow. Many parents will only express shock but as e no be their child they won’t be bothered. For a school to care so much about their reputation and be trying to cover up evil when it happens as against protecting the young ones kept in their care then we should know they do not care about who the next victim is.All they care about is their name and the money they will lose from the scandal breaking out. This is not the first time this kind of thing is happening in this school, they always make sure they prevent it from getting to the media and blogs carrying it.Until there are strict penalties in place when things like this happen these people won’t sit up,Until other parents make them realize a bad incident like this affects everyone then they will seat up.
You gather kids no form of first aid,no doctors at least 2 on ground,no ambulance,no extreme measures to ensure things like this don’t happen.just pack children take them to the stadium put pressure on them to be running around and just to make money off them.

  31. I don't really understand our reasoning, when people die in a hospital? We make it looks like the hospital is for the most healthy people. Circumstances happens, it is not like someone put knife inside the deceased throat, let us learn how to control our emotions. We like to blame or tag someone to somebody's death, even if there is no evidence, thereby put there love ones into depression despite loosing love ones. If there is an underlying illness? Is it still the school, let the death be investigated.

  32. I pray God heals the parents in Jesus Name. Every school year, schools REQUIRE each student to have a physical medical exam in the US. Your child will not be allowed in without the physical which would have unraveled any hidden ailments by any kid. In such a case the kid will not even be allowed to participate in some sports. Every good school district has a clinic staffed with a registered nurse in my town/county. They are paid out of the school share of property tax revenue. The city has a 911 system with ambulances connected to a major well equipped hospital, ready to dispatch just in case.

When there are athletic meets, well equipped ambulances and healthcare personnel are on hand in addition to kids over 12 being trained in CPR (Cardiopulmonary rescucitation) and having AEDs in every building. Let us stop being a greedy society. Out of the Nmillions school fees per child, a nurse’s salary would have been covered by just the fees of one child while the fees of about 5 kids can retain a pediatrician for a few hours a week plus equip the clinic with meds & devices including AED machines and train the older kids in CPR & AED use. Time is of essence when someone collapses or falls hence the need to train people in first response. Five minutes May make the difference towards saving a life. Hopefully parents will begin to demand that schools that collect these huge amounts put well equipped clinics and retain licensed physicians for a few hours per week and to be there whenever they have a meet (inter house or inter school competitions). May God rest her soul & comfort the parents. We need SYSTEMS in Nigeria not isolated good clinics or ambulances. In a healthcare system they will be interconnected & work best to prevent this type of sad occurrence.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wish most people will learn basic life support / CPR. It can come in especially handy in situations such as this as earlier resuscitation with immediate effective chest compressions have been proven a key to survival in such cases.
Even if there is a medical team on ground, a bystander competent in CPR could have jumped in and started the resuscitation until emergency medical personnel arrives, even from across the same field . Every minute counts! We typically say - time is muscle (the heart); and time is brain (for better recovery). We just had a footballer collapse on the field a few weeks ago while we all watched in horror. One of his coaches, I believe, jumped in and began immediate CPR which is credited as being key to him having survived.

Please, most adults, learn how to perform CPR, it just might save your loved one or someone else.

May her soul rest in peace and God comfort her family. Amen.

  34. Anon 5:07👌🏾I wrote as Anon 21:09. The problem with our people is that the ignorant, the greedy, the brashest ones are the loudest or most influential, hence we lack systems in place. How can some not see anything wrong in a gathering of over 100 kids with no EMRs or ambulance? We get away with it doesn’t mean it’s ok & this sad incidence again brings up the topic of safety of kids & the need for systems to safeguard children. There is a lot wrong with just continuing the sporting event after one kid passed! That place was already a crime scene immediately she died! Negligence is when you gather so many kids, whose physicals you don’t have, without medical personnel or EMRs for an event that may involve exertion, crowding, heat, or any health risk such as the sporting event referenced in this case. There is more to a “top school” than the status of parents or the cars they ride after all some suburban high schools have kids that start driving by 16 driving cars from Benz, Porsche to Lexus to even Maserati! Many parents actually prefer their newly licensed teenagers to drive the safest cars in their garage!

From the government that accredits schools with no licensed nurse or retained physician & clinic on the staff, to the “make money at all cost” traders importing used, discarded or bad candy floss or popcorn vending machines, to approving curricula that excludes basic CPR/AED trainings, public buildings without AEDs which cost less than a Hermes purse, it’s a system that needs thorough overhauling.

We scratch the surface of suburban western life but we need to study their institutions & replicate it well. It’s not only by erecting fancy buildings & importing the best toys & gadgets that you have a good school. Nor is it by raking in huge fees on foreign excursions. It is not only the curriculum, it is the first response systems, the empathy, the health care, the security, the school spirit of looking out for each other that we need. It is true that humans die anywhere even in the best western schools but it is our obligation to fellow human beings that we do our best to not be the reason it happens.

The corrupt contractors and government officials that approved buildings that couldn’t withstand earthquakes indirectly murdered people in Turkey are being arrested.
I attended only public schools in Naija including an FGC 40+ years ago. The FGC I attended had kids of civil servants, teachers, ex ministers & corporate executives at the time! Nobody cared who your parents were or not. We all had access to the best facilities including a school nurse/clinic at ~N60/term. There were less than 200 private secondary schools in the entire country (mission schools were not considered private as they didn’t charge outrageous fees & were open to those who passed for small amounts) 50 years ago!

The greedy elites, military looters, politicians, traders without conscience, cronies etc destroyed all public institutions from elementary to college creating a class system & raking in money. The US many come & birth the kids in has MOST of its kids attending PUBLIC K12 schools. We need to realize that “we can do well together” is better than the current “I better pass my neighbor” or “not my business”national philosophy or mantra! May God comfort this family in Jesus name.
