JAMB And Alleged Highest Scorer Mmesoma Trade Words After She Debunked Fake Result Allegations

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has slammed a three-year ban on Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, who is embroiled in the controversy of who scored the highest mark in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, conducted by the Board.

This is just as the Board said it has also cancelled the result obtained by her in the examination.
Speaking with the Vanguard, yesterday evening, the spokesman of the Board, Dr. Benjamin Fabian, accused the lady of engaging in criminal act.
“What she did was to alter a result that was obtained by somebody in the 2021 UTME. She is banned for three years from sitting for the UTME too. That result of hers, where she scored 249, has been cancelled as well,” he said on phone.

Asked how the girl could have altered her result without connivance with somebody in the Board, Fabian said there was no hacking into the Board’s facility.

“Our results are safe and nobody has hacked into them. She only altered her results, and the QR code will always show her true result,” he added.

However, Mmesoma, in a post on her Facebook wall, denied any wrong doing.

“They are just trying to harass me and my family. After the results were released over two months ago, why is it taking them this long to say what they are saying now? Now, using the QR code is indicating another name – Omotola Afolabi – which initially showed a score of 138 and, later, 338. Somebody cannot have two different results from the same examination.

“I cannot do what they are accusing me of. I have been a brilliant girl from my Nursery School days. I scored over 300 in my common entrance examination to secondary school,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State government has said it bust up the whole thing when it suspected that the score was fake.
This came as the chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, who earlier announced a N3 million scholarship to the girl, said she can no longer access the fund until the investigation is completed.

Mmesoma became an instant celebrity after her alleged 362 scores went viral as the overall best score in the 2023 UTME.

JAMB on Sunday, declared Mmesoma’s 362 UTME score as fake, and revealed that her score was manually inflated, as her original score was 249. JAMB also announced the immediate withdrawal of Mmesoma’s UTME score.

Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh said she was the one that raised the alarm after the girl honoured an invitation in the process of the plan by the state government to honour her.
Chuma- Udeh said that after Mmesoma’s result was published online, she invited the girl for recognition by the state government, adding that when Mmesoma brought her result, she observed that it was not directly from the JAMB printout.

According to her, it was at that point that she became suspicious, which made her get in touch with JAMB to confirm the result, stating that she was taken aback when JAMB told her that what was circulating was not its result.
She said it was at that point that her ministry turned back the girl, while JAMB began an investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the founder of Innoson Motors, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, who announced the N3 million university scholarship award to the 16-year-old Mmesoma shortly after her result went viral, has said that with the latest development, the girl can no longer access the fund, although the money had been paid into a dedicated account.

Describing the revelation as very unfortunate, Chukwuma said he was excited when he heard that the young girl came tops in the UTME, especially when he found out that she studied in a public school.

He said: “When I was told that a student of a public school recorded the highest score in the JAMB examination, I sent for the principal of the school and the principal confirmed to me that it was true that the girl scored the mark.

“I said to myself that such a brilliant girl if properly educated, will be beneficial to our country and the world at large, so I decided to award her a scholarship so that nothing will stop her from attaining a university education.

“When I awarded her the scholarship, I deposited ¦ 3,000,000 in a dedicated bank account and told the principal that the money is strictly meant for Mmesoma’s education in the university, which means that any time she needs to pay any fee in the school, they will let me know so that I will sign for withdrawal of the money from the account. “

Mmesoma claimed to have scored 98 marks in English Language, 89 in Physics, 94 in Biology and 81 in Chemistry.
Incidentally, JAMB said the true highest scorer is also from Anambra State like Mmesoma. He is Umeh Nkechinyere with 360 marks.

    1. This story made me remember my waec issue, most people working in these boards are very corrupt.
One evening, I went to a shop to buy something, while I was chatting with the girl selling about preparing for my waec, one man was there, unknown to me a waec officer.
He asked me my school, I told him, he now told me about helping people score good grades, no matter what you write, that they know how to go about it and make your original result disappear.
I doubted him, he now mentioned my classmate that he is coming from their house, I was shocked.
I told him to wait, we live nearby let me inform my mother, I rushed home and narrated the issue to my mom, who invited the man.
After the discussion, my mom said no,that I am still young, when I fail that I should repeat, I sha felt bad knowing another mother is supporting her daughter.
Back in school, I don't know what the man told the girl and family, the girl came to harass me in school, I now escalated the thing in school that even her friends were surprised how can such happen and she no link them.
The family even came to our house to harass us, it was something else cos I made it open in the school.
Waec started, one particular paper, the invigilator called out few students and me, knowing I didn't do anything, I was suspicious of the call out.
Cos the school was monitoring us well.
I told my mom, she was like I should forget, I told her I believe I am the target, she convinced me to forget.
After exams, one day I was going somewhere, the man grabbed me by hands that he do stalk me sometimes but hardly see me outside.
That he is very sorry, he lied to the family concerning me but the issue now, they have planned to deal with my results to punish me as the family get connect.
I rushed home to my mom, infact that case affected everyone in my set cos mom was if the results were not marked openly for that particular school that she will take it up with the help of few people she mentioned.
And they just arranged our results and made sure we all re write waec.
No one in that class got all papers.
      Those boards are very corrupt

    2. The woman at the government office, the commissioner, was very observant. Schools like UI verify results, so if you forged yours you will be flushed out, just pray it is before your final year. Innoson and others giving gifts are doing well, but the right thing is to verify first. Even companies and other employers are supposed to do their due diligence , except for jobs were certificates are not needed, and most of such still ask for referees and guarantors.

    3. Your WAEC story is very different from how the JAMB under prof Ishiak Oloyede is run. Even they cannot access the results from the database. The qr code system is secure and unique internationally. They change the layout every year and the result can only be accessed with her registered phone number. The exams are now CBT so you almost eliminate leaks. I've had my results tampered with it exchanged in the past by NECO and the common entrance system of back then.

The girl was probably not proud of her result being a high flyer in school so she over-compensated and got caught. Through her service provider, the log of her interaction with the JAMB server was printed and down on TV so those with data and a serve of justice can see that she was using her limited knowledge on ICT to help herself. She is 19 and if she doesn't backpedal, she'll be risking jail.

It took Jamb months to notice her result was fake and send a whole DSS against a minor.
I heard she had been barred from writing Jamb for three years.

By the way, this is not the first time their system is having glitches or candidates forging result.

To upgrade your scores, i hear it cost between 20 to 30k, this girl's mom sells orange and her dad is an okada rider, where will they get the money for such.

    1. The result is allegedly not a JAMB 2023 print out (no other person has a similar print out, not even the other guy that claimed 380)
    2. How did she know she had the "highest score" without JAMB publication, assuming there was a glitch like some are suggesting?
    3. There is an app that can supposedly do this same print out on Android.
    4. She may or may not have been in the know of her actual results going by her repeated checks and Airtel communications report.
    5. Her parents struggled financially, so the funds were really needed and there's motive for misrepresentation of facts.
    6. She has supposedly been a high test scorer, so may have considered 249 a low score for her ego and future ambitions, another motive.
    7. Common entrance test scores may have changed, you had to be above 500 to be considered competitive in time past.

JAMB however still needs to look into their system to ensure their staff are not engaging in security breach practices.

She may have approached an Oluwole cyber cafe in Anambra there who just deceived her and did tricks with adobe cloud for 2k. They didn't expect that she would ask them to quote the highest score and she also didn't expect this level of backlash for stealing someone else's shine.

  15. So sad reading all the comments here in support of this girl and against JAMB - so much distrust for all govt agencies. But JAMB has been totally revamped by Prof Oloyede. Some people have just set up this innocent and brilliant girl, for "sacrifice". They wanted to use her brilliant but humble background to make money (for themselves and not her). Fraudulently inflate her scores, get monetary gifts and scholarships and split with her/parents (or eventually dupe her and parents).

You get admission and after you jubiliate and go to process your admission, the school tells you that you don't have admission. Fiam, another name is sitting in your position.
