Nigeria has changed National Anthem from ''Arise O compatriots' To 'Nigeria we hail thee''....
Some of you are saying they should use Singer Timi Dakolo's song as National Anthem? A Song he released as a song? Lyrics of a National anthem are exclusively written for that purpose, the rights to do so is not possible again...I dunno if you understand...Lets be realistic....
Do you prefer Arise O compatriots or Nigeria we hail thee?
Lets discuss and no insults please!!!
This country shaaaa🤦♀️. Some people don't even know the old one, now they want them to learn another one. "Arise o compatriots", is still better.
ReplyDeleteI prefer 'Arise O Compatriots...'.
DeleteI don't no Nigeria we hail thee. Will check u the lyrics. But anthem is not really our most pressing problem right now. This change should be gradual. Give children in schools a 1yr to learn it,before changing it. Even the arise o compatriots, many still don't no it.
DeleteI just downloaded the anthem for my children to listen to,so they learn it. Thank God dem dey ss2, so e no go hard dem to cope.
Deletechii nigerian
DeleteI dnt even know what to say... But honestly dis is not d right time for changing of national anthem
ReplyDeleteSo many things are happening in the country...na person wey chop belleful dey learn new national anthem oo..
Primary and secondary school teachers...Over to u
We have no choice as educators.
DeleteOur proprietor messaged me "HM make sure the teachers start teaching the pupils the national anthem".
Does our teachers even know how to sing it.
DeleteMisplaced priority in my own opinion.
Mariam
I don't even have a choice right now
ReplyDeleteWe have been mandated to teach our students the new anthem before mid term break
This is not what we need right now in Nigeria
Of All the suffering in the land, na this one dey worry our government?
ReplyDeleteFuel is now 850 per a liter, food stuff skyrocketing every day, people are dying of hunger.
Let's not even talk of kidnapping. 😭👽
When you listen to this anthem very well, you will realize that we're reciting the direct opposite of what we're facing in this country
DeleteNigeria my country
ReplyDeleteSome people don't know how to recite the old one,is it now they want to learn the new one🤔
With the situation of this country that we are facing.may God help us all
Lemme not say anything sha. But I still prefer the "Arise O compatriots" to this old one they just adopted again..
ReplyDeleteThey should not worry
ReplyDeleteUnborn babies will learn this new ones oo..
I prefer 'Nigeria, we hail thee'. It is best for the times we are in.
ReplyDeleteI understand when Tinubu reverted to it.
Nigeria, we hail thee.
why not when
DeleteI never really liked the arise o compatriots since we started using it.
DeleteI’m so glad we reverted back to Nigeria we hail thee…just look at the lyrics 💃💃💃
I don't understand how a new anthem will wipe out the many problems in Nigeria. They said it's to foster unity, how?. These people are clearly disillusioned. At this point, it's obvious that they don't regard the struggles of the average Nigerian
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the relevance of the National Anthem to a hunger ravaged country. Why must they prefer the old one composed by a white man than the one a Nigerian composed . This is the height of misplaced priority, Arise O compatriots......
ReplyDeleteNigeria.... we hail thee.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the new one honestly. It's the solution to all our problems. I'm very sure if
ReplyDeleteI go to the market and sing it to the traders they will reduce the price of foodstuff for me.
I thought you were being serious till I read your 2nd paragraph. 🤣
Delete😂😂😂
Delete😂😂😂
DeleteBut seriously these people no rate Nigerians at all. They can still sing bcos they are sure of a daily balanced diet. I don't want to be vexing too much Abt Nigerian govt again b4 I die
Same here.
DeleteI think the new national anthem is quite moving and thought-provoking.
It's a beautiful reflection on Nigeria's diversity, unity, and strength as a nation. And that line about building a nation "where no man is oppressed" is particularly powerful. 👏.
It makes sense given the current situation in Nigeria. The call for justice, peace, and an end to oppression in the lyrics aligns with the frustrations and concerns of many Nigerians.
But then again,.how does that reduce the suffering we are facing in Nigeria now.
Ordinary pepper is no #500 per portion in my area.
Instead of looking for what is chasing us as a country, we prefer to chase rat.
O ma se o
May be after being moving and thought provoking it can give us assess to cheaper foods
DeleteFor Nigeria to move forward, we must stand in brotherhood though tribes and tongues may differ….welcome back, correct National Anthem 💃💃
DeleteBoth in filling stations 🚉 too.
ReplyDeleteNice one😪
I am waiting for my kids to teach me this😆😆
ReplyDeleteIt is realistic adopting Timi Dakolo's song as the new National Anthem. Once it is the will of people, it can be done. The truth is we are not introspective as a people and our leaders don't care...
ReplyDeleteChanging and singing the anthem will not turn around the country....Let the leaders elected do right by the people.....People are going hungry and the most priority is changing anthem..
Timi Dakolo's song is the best anthem or you adopt the 2nd anthem of the Nigerian version.
Are we moving forward or backwards..How can we take what a colonialist wrote in 1959 and start singing it. Most of today's leaders can recite the 1978 own na the 1959 dem go come sing...
I can bet that those who pushed this in the houses of assembly cannot even recite it....
I agree with you somewhat. Are you referring to Timi Dakolo's Great Nation? I think I will prefer his song too to what they are adopting now. I feel it makes more sense to adopt something entirely new and by a Nigerian if we must change the anthem, than go back to the past. We should be moving forward and changing in tandem with the times.
DeleteI feel there was nothing wrong with the former anthem. I always found it uplifting and took pride in it. Both stanzas were beautiful to me. This current one is just okay and not as moving to me. Does not feel realistic. I feel like it is a forced and unnecessary decision since we have bigger fish to fry.
Thank you for that your second paragraph. That's what I'm alll about. The lyrics are nice and thoughtful, but this is not about how it speaks to us about what we are passing through in the country right now, it's about it reflecting in the lives of our leaders and how much they care about we the masses sufferings
DeleteVery disappointed at how the bill was quickly passed and signed into law when this is the least of the problems plaguing the country right now.
ReplyDeleteIf they feel this will be a step in the right direction, all well and good.
The first one eh, the lyrics dey always vex me.
ReplyDeleteImagine all the pledges inside.
We obey, we serve, with our strength, even with empty stomach.
I prefer this new one even though I know I no go master am anytime soon. Inside which brain?
Brain wey get plenty things to think about.
I just dey pity teachers shaa .e go hard them this initial period. But with time, everything go gel.
So you think since you don't want the one where 'we obey, serve' and all, it's this one that 'truth and justice will reign and no one oppressed with plenty peace' that will solve these problems we are in? Dey play maifren
DeleteMake tinubu and the lawmakers give me 10years to learn am because wetin they do me no do them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was still a kid, my late brother used to talk about this anthem and how it sounds. And I was actually curious to know it. But now with the way things are, no time to start learning anthem o.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the arise o....
ReplyDeleteChanging the national anthem is the least of our problems right now. But it's none of their faults. Dem chop belleful and their kids are not bothered about school fees and food.
The new anthem is more like positive affirmation. It's not bad but shouldn't be given utmost priority like the prices of fuel, electricity or even garri depended on it.
ReplyDeletePositive affirmation without works is nothing.
DeleteI dey wait make baba and the other old cargos for aso house recite am for national tv before i learn my own.
So after causing a massive rift in the nation's fabric using tribe and religion during election, you think changing the national anthem will fix that?
ReplyDeleteIs it now that they know that "though tribes and tongues may differ we are one?
🙄
The labours of our heroes past have finally be in vain😭😭. Nigerian we hail the hardship, insecurity, scarcity of fuel, unemployment and lot more.
ReplyDeleteI see it as doing the right thing at the wrong time.
ReplyDeleteLet's adopt Timis own
ReplyDeleteI hail God not Nigeria! I have made up my mind to dump everything Nigeria!!! Nigeria does not exist anymore. They should continue deceiving them selves.
