MinimumWageGATE -Nigerian Govt Offers N62,000 And Labour Drops Demand To N250,000

The Federal Government of Nigeria has increased its offer of a new national minimum wage to N62,000 after the organized labour dropped its demand from N494,000 to N250,000.
There was no consensus at the meeting and the Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage has adjourned.
The organized private sector is also in agreement with the government over the N62,000 offer.

  3. NLC doesn't know what they are doing at all.

Do they know the negative effect of this action on the economy at all?

Do they know that, we patronize the same market with civil servants?

What happens to fighting for price control?

    What a waste of leaders

    2. Anon 12:37, you need to pack well, Pinky understands what he is saying. May be you are a government worker, just know that everything will increase once this minimum wage gets implemented.

    3. Anon 18:48, you sef should shift. Did the traders and transporters not increase the prices of their goods and services immediately subsidy was removed? They did, making sure that their profit margins were not affected and that was one year ago. But the wages of the civil servants remained the same, same salary but buying at higher prices. You sef should feel their pain.

  5. This government is wicked. Beans is now N500 a cup. Rice is N450 a cup, garri is N200 a cup. Is it school fees that is cheap? What of transportation and rent.

Can N62,000 cater for family of four in a month? Why are these people so wicked? So after the strike, it is only two thousand naira that they added?

  6. A new law should be written that every politician and individual occupying a political office will be paid two months salary with no top ups at the current minimum wage each year so they can understand the plight of those they serve.

At the low end 75k is what should have been offered. Did the govt offer assurances of compliance by all states to pay the civil servants the amount they have offered?

  7. So after all the deliberations,na only "urgent 2k" dem add? I told my boss they wouldn't add more than 3k. Turns out I was right..

  8. In my opinion 250k is not feasible, this minimum wage will be across board.

The 30k sef, some state government are struggling to pay not to talk of most private companies especially one man business paying less than 30k.

I will suggest the government look into this high cost of living and security because once they start paying 62k, everything will increase in price with sellers saying they have increased salaries which might not be for every worker.

    It is well.

  10. There's no need arguing because government would not pay such. They should also help us with business loan. Some of us can hustle with business to augment we just need capital to start.

  12. It's not even funny, 62k! I think government should try and control prices, because people will still increase prices of things immediately they hear there's increments of salary, I read somewhere yesterday that farmers said they will increase price of eggs to 10k per crate if government increase civil servants salary.

  13. my own is that the new minimum wage in Nigeria should not be less than #100,000 naira. It is time for nigeria and Nigerians to move forward.ignoramus Nigerians like staying on grace only level for too long.It is time for speedy growth and development to enter into nigeria.Nigerians stop liking bottom level things.
