Do you agree or disagree?
When you love your Parents, you wont see it as retirement plan, you would love doing it with all your heart.....I dont even care if my siblings use me as retirement plan but as long as i have i will keep giving......
Nicely written Stella.
ReplyDeleteMtsheww
ReplyDeleteI even like I am not even doing enough for my dear parents
#feel
DeleteDaddy freeze its not a retirement plan as you see it, it comes naturaly from the children to care for their aged parents.
ReplyDeleteIf you like no give your parents that one concern you.
Natural lol
DeleteNot when that was their only plan
Freezer should talk about his adultery fine
DeleteSometimes, it is so annoying.
ReplyDeleteBut that's what we do for love. It is called sacrifice.
It's not sacrifice but privilege
DeleteAnnoying? I guess you are not yet a parents. Parents sacrifice so much for their kids to be something in life. It's when I started my own family I realised what my parents did to make me what I am. The money they should have used to build their houses, they used to build me.
Delete@8:10
DeleteVery true.
@8:10 very much on point. I am investing everything in my children and those I can reach out to if I can afford it. I am not a government worker neither am I rich.
DeleteAnon 8:10, God bless you. Me I don't see anything my parents will do that is annoying.
DeleteDfrz you choose to stay in between but I get your point, I have a very soft spot for my family most especially my mom if I get I will possibly give her 1million monthly for upkeep.
ReplyDeleteWell i will never pray to depend on my children at old age, I want to leave the legacy and properties for them at old too.
The Principle of life is that when you take care of your parent this comes with lot of blessings" &your children will take care of you too at old"
Note: na old age people need support pass, oyibo no joke with this
If they see me as a retirement plan so be it, just pray I have the cash and resource to fund them and God give us long stay on earth with sound health
Amen
This conversation had to be had. Yes, I love my parents but thankfully they are the kind of parents who do not see their kids as investments. I am 35, I can still go to my parents to ask for financial support because their parenting rule is you will always be their child. My mum changed my car recently. Of course, I do beautiful things for them too but not out of the burden of "returning their investments", they even try to turn the money when they think it is too expensive.
ReplyDeleteI will be a parent soon, I plan to make sure I don't see my kid as an investment but as a child I will always love without placing on them the burden to give me financial returns for doing something that is my responsibility as a parent.
Clearly, I am fortunate to have the parents I do and the way they carry themselves with pride and the love for their children.
👍
DeleteWhat do you say about parents that are not wealthy?
Delete@14:26 very true
DeleteI see nothing wrong with what he said. Let's break that attitude of seeing kids as retirement plan.
ReplyDeleteNothing is to much to give my parents...I even think I am not doing enough for them now that they are old..
ReplyDeleteMay God elevate me🙏
Listening to Freeze , no body will tell u that he only receives & never gives, stingy guy. Meanwhile ,court has ruled that he should pay his present wife’s husband 5million as penalty for committing adultery with his former wife.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha 🤣🤣 Daddy Freezer go & settle your family 1st before asking others not to care about their parents
DeleteI think if you are financially capable, and not wicked or suffering from a traumatic experience, you'd naturally be moved to help your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteWhere problem arises is when they don't put the help to good use and also keep doing things to you that makes you feel as though you're only valuable as long as you can support them.
This applies to everyone, not just parents and it hurts.
But i don't think parents should see their children as retirement plan. Cos the bible says a good man leaves inheritance for his children's children. But these days and I believe even before now, some parents see their children as such, even when they've done nothing reasonable to see to the growth of those children.
This!!!
DeleteYou're right
DeleteHmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteMost of these parents invested all their lives earnings on their children...
Everyone should do what works for them but as for me,I will take care of my parents and I dont mind if they make me their retirement plans,my prayer is for God to bless me bountifully.
ReplyDeletePoverty mentality is still disturbing FRZ. Truth is love comes with giving, there's this fulfillment I get when I give to my parents or anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI only feel burdened if I don't have to give.
Abeg this advice is not for me. If I give my mama money, she would pray and pray for me no matter how small the money is that happiness I see in her eyes everytime I gift her something is everything .
ReplyDeleteEven from the little I have I still try to give..Why will I have and not give my parents and relatives.?haba,God bless me so I can be of help to my relatives and others
ReplyDeleteI see it as a privilege to be of help to my loved ones, there's this peace and calm that flows within when i see smiles on their faces
ReplyDeleteI sha pray God blessed me and my siblings.
ReplyDeleteI want to spoil my mum (I wish my Dad is still alive). Her sacrifices on me especially can't be repaid, so yes, I am her retirement plan. So long as God has been showing me His love and mercies, I won't hesitate to do the same to my mum and siblings.
As for our kids, may God keep blessings them too. I go hustle my own and I pray they also remember Us as God blessed them. That's it!
If I dnt take care of my parent who will
ReplyDeleteAbeg anytime I sell mkt I will give my mother something oooo
If I make 10k I give 5k
If I make 5k I give 3k
I hardly buy something for myself
So Mr Freeze I do not understand what you are saying
It is well
Hello iya boys
Go and pay your fine ogbeni.🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteFRZ should stop misleading d young ones & funny enough, people still attend that his online church. I know teachers & parents from humble beginnings who sold all they had & even borrowed, to send their children to school. It’s not their fault that they were born into such families & when their parents toiled to make sure they acquired basic, tertiary & higher education , u advise them not to take care of their parents?. FRZ always standing on d opposite side of issues , against d majority, just to trend.
ReplyDeleteWhen you love someone, there’s this indescribable feeling to take care of them.
ReplyDeleteThis is not limited to your Lovers only but everyone you love.
You want to see them happy.
Growing up(primary 3), I will always save my Snack money to get my Mom a birthday gift no matter how small it was
No one taught me that because no one gave me any gift but I love seeing that smile on my mom’s Face then.
I don't have much but there's this inner joy I get when I gift my parents something. They always argue that I dnt have enof yet to give them and I reply that I want to give when I have little so that I master it when I have alot.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if my mom see me as a retirement plan, infact, I will gladly and willingly be her retirement plan, she deserves every good care from me, my prayer to God is to bless me abundantly and preserve her for me so that I can spoil her with good care, she has sacrificed for her children, so I need to return all her good deeds on me.
ReplyDeleteFreezer ntor
ReplyDeleteHmmm afo ju eze odiyaka ojulu madu Nile
ReplyDeleteHe's absolutely right
ReplyDeleteDey play go you hear
DeleteSadly almost all Nigerians do this
ReplyDeleteBecause the typical Nigerian parent does not treat their children the way the Caucasians parents treat their children.
DeleteNigerian parent funds a child's university education fully and feeds the child after for years until the child gets a job. If the job requires relocation, the parent may even fund the relocation and first accommodation expenses.
How many Caucasian parents do those?
It’s an anti-western phenom. The issue is that 80% of 🇳🇬 live on less than $5/day, have more kids/wives than they can take care of considering the corrupt government, widespread looting & lack of social safety nets. We became our parents goverment putting boreholes in their houses, sending money for them & taking u their responsibilities which meant taking care of three generations.
DeleteMaking your children your retirement plan is different from when children voluntarily give to what they can afford to parents. I went to high school when it was N60/term. Went to uni when there was no tuition & accommodation was N90/year. My parents gave me N20/semester pocket money. The total my parents spent on my education was less than N2000 all in with 3 people sharing one egg when on break & eating rice once a week unlike now. Guess what, once I graduated & started shouldering their responsibilities they wanted to live very large with internet connection back when it was not common till I said I couldn’t afford it. My younger siblings were pushed to me with one exhibiting so much entitlement that I look back & it’s hard not to resent them all now. I realized after decades of working very good jobs that others took the bulk of my disposable income. I have worked decades, had to borrow part of my own children’s college fees while I helped another’s children, their grandkids to private schools. God saw the wicked exploitation & brought me here years ago. 🇺🇸forces you to save for retirement by deducting it before handing the balance to you else they would have eaten up all my sweat. I thank God everyday for that as my parents are gone & the extended family I made so much sacrifices for do care about me. They still want to take after 30 years of taking forgetting I’m getting older too.
It is wicked to make your children your retirement plan or have more children than you can afford. It perpetuates poverty & breeds resentment. One wealthy person in the midst of 12 poor is also poor and your own children will not get what is due to them. Besides many of those they emotionally manipulate you to help pick bills for turn out ungrateful the day you say “no more” as you get older & tired. The West care but don’t do it that way. Their love is not based on money but real care. It’s not a western phenomenon as their goverments have social programs for seniors. What children do is care for parents with the parents money which is good enough for me. Besides they usually have fewer children and more generational wealth.
He is right. Sadly many are as brainwashed as I was decades ago. Now I’m older, tired but cannot retire because of the standard of life I want & inflation eating into investments & cost of living. Yes, children should take care of old parents but not be wrecked financially by lack of planning, entitlement & emotional blackmail of many 🇳🇬extended family.
Some of you will not have this energy if your parents didn’t take care of you o. If your dad married 3 wives and abandoned you, your siblings and your mom a lot of you will not take care of your dad when you grow up no matter how much money you have. I agree that parents shouldn’t look to their kids to take care of them when they grow old, work on being able to retire with something to fall back on and whatever your kids give you will be an addition.
ReplyDeleteMy uncle sold all his properties including the one his kids and wife lived in, married a small wife and moved to the village. They were homeless for a while before they found their feet but when he became sick he needed his kids to take care of him and though they did, It felt like he didn’t deserve it. If you don’t take care of your kids, they won’t take care of you properly. Thats just it
ReplyDeleteI support freeze. My dad thru out my childhood kept supporting his mistress until now. So I said if he had saved those money he would being enjoying so I stop sendin money regularly like before. Stop supporting your parents like you owe them.
ReplyDeleteEeeya, not nice of him
