Possibly so! Mine has re-married with case still in court. He is cutting down costs and telling me my son should go to government secondary (public ooo not even government colleges). Lying about his salary. So yes, we are in a patriarchal society where a woman is wicked when she reacts. I no longer blame women who do certain evil because only God knows the pain they have gone through or seen a loved one witnessed. I just thank God that i work and He has been good to me.

It just shows that the man is selfish and spiteful. Everything being normal, the primary caregiver (who is usually the mother) should remain as primary caregiver, it is what is best for the child.

DeleteI am very much aware of the facts of this case, as I happened to be present on some of the days the matter was going on. What she stated there is not the full story.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is true that she was the one that filed for divorce on the ground of irretrievable breakdown of the marriage, however, her husband joined Daddy Freeze as a Co-Respondent in the matter.
The reason was that she was having an extra marital affair with Daddy Freeze and even had a child for him while still married to her husband.
I recall that in court, she had argued that they were separated at the time. However she was presented with evidence of a family trip sponsored by her husband to Disneyland , which she eventually admitted.
The Rivers State High court in 2021 eventually dissolved the marriage, and awarded Million naira against Daddy Freeze as Co-Respondent. I think her husband was awarded sole custody of the children, I'm not so sure of this though. It is therefore not true that she got divorced 12 years ago.
Also, it was a well respected female Judge who gave this judgement, so there is no question of male bias.
Some days ago, the Appeal Court upheld the decision of the HC and awarded 5million agaisnt Freeze.
These are the facts in court , within my knowledge
It is only men that have the right to date and even have kids with other women while their marriage has not been dissolved. It is a taboo for women to do that in this part of the world.

While i may not know details of this case. Female judges have been biased against women because they do not want to be seen to take sides with their gender. A male lawyer (SAN) once told me this that even in DV, a female judge once said 'we that remain in the marriage, do you think we are stupid'!

DeleteHer winding-women-rally narration intrinsically admits that she and Mr. Freeze were already having a relationship before her statutory marriage was finally dissolved. A suit for divorce is not divorce because there is no guarantee the divorce sought would be granted.
She and Mr. Freeze are making a mockery of themselves by attacking the man with the usual whips of dead-beatness, homophobic assertions, etc.
Joint custody was ordered and the man is not fulfilling his obligations? What are the terms? It is even a very simple matter. Her lawyers know what to do. The lawyers also know why they cannot do it or have not done it. That is the crux of the matter now.
Everything in life has its benefits and disadvantages. Statutory marriages have their monogamy inducing and inheritance benefits, which most women seek. It has its disadvantage of a long drawn dissolution process where one person takes the higher moral ground route instead of the comparatively quicker 2 or 3 years living apart option and negotiated agreement on properties/child(ren).
Anybody who wants the quicker method of dissolving marriages should stay in the customary marriage law lane where the man/woman can simply demand/return the bride price or pronounce the required words and be done with the marriage. Or is it not said that "you cannot have your cake and eat it."
She said she filled for a divorce 12yrs ago and the divorce was finalized 10yrs later. Where you expecting her to remain single for the 10yrs? 10 whole years! She started dating Freeze when she got separated, the ex should swear he never slept with any other woman till after the divorce.

A woman got sole custody in Lagos, took the child to Asaba to be with her mother, and traveled to the Abroad for studies. The man made the mistake of going to collect the child back to Lagos without court order. She sued again and the court said yes to her. The child should be with her Grand mother while the mother is in school abroad. The man's act of self-help really angered the court.

In this Freeze case, the court was very balanced in its judgment terms as admitted by Freeze and his wife - Custody for the mother because of the allegations against the man (whether proved or not) and Freeze to pay for gbenshing another man's wife (until the Supreme Court says he did not gbensh. QED.
Wife seeking divorce should start reporting any man who gbensh while waiting for final divorce order to court too.
