I can't really tell how I got the virus, the good thing is my husband isn't really concerned about how I got it, he knew I wasn't a virgin when we met , he has never asked me that question. His main concern has always been my wellbeing.
On what symptoms I was having, the funniest part is I was never sick, infact up till this moment to God be the glory, I've never fallen sick apart from maybe 3 days malaria and it'll go after treatment, so no symptoms...
Most people don't develop symptoms at all, the scary part is my CD 4 was just 200+ when I found out and anything less than 200 is already Aids. My saving grace was the fact that I started ante natal very early, and I was given ARV so my child wasn't infected.
That's why they advise people to get tested cos mine didn't come with any symptoms and from my CD 4, it seems I've being carrying it for a while or the pregnancy made my immune system to go low. My husband is very lucky not to contact it. Now I have less than 20 copies of hiv in my body, which means I'm undetected and can't transmit the virus.
There's something called U=U meaning Undetected=I transmittable, I practice 100 percent personal hygiene, especially when handling the family food,I make sure my hands are well cleaned before touching food,no cut or bleeding. I hide my personal stuffs from family and friends, I don't share any personal stuff with people
Let me correct something, being undetected does not mean you'll have negative hiv results if you go for testing, the normal hiv testing using slip may give negative but not on standard test
I was advised to breastfeed exclusively, because breast milk is very important in fighting the virus, no mixed feeding, just 6 months exclusive and you stop breastfeeding after 6 months, the baby was placed on n#virapine syrup for six weeks and s#ptrin till after breastfeeding.

I've seen some hiv mothers breastfeeding till age 1 but I don't advise it cos once the child starts growing teeth, there's possibilities of biting the nipple which can result to blood coming out of the nipple and the baby will be at risk of infection.
If you can afford it and it won't bring suspicions from family members, I'll advise formula feeding without breastfeeding at all but if you can't ,do as I did, all my children are negative , I get them tested at age 2 when they were about to start school and they did again when they want to get admitted into secondary schools cos it's mandatory.
My husband goes for testing once in a while and he always comes out clean. All the worker in my care centre always tells me how lucky I am and I thank God for the kind of man he gave me.
To the person that asked maybe my husband status was hidden,my dear the answer is No, the center did comprehensive test for him, we are using a very big hospital and I was the one that took him there, even their oga used our case for a project with my husband's approval, he took his blood for comprehensive tests to check if he has inactive hiv in his body but the rest came back negative.

My husband is a very decent man and only had just one relationship before me and I've never suspected or seen him with anyone after me, I have had a couple of relationships before him and he knows
Someone said maybe he's hiding to take his drugs, well my husband is a very open person to the extent that everyone in our house knows his phone password, so hiding to take meds will be very impossible, in fact there is huge disadvantage of hiding from your partner to take meds cos you'll end up missing your doses and how can someone hide status from the partner you are living together with for 16 years.....
We don't know how much we human beings are able to love until we are faced with some situations.
Check your hiv status today, it saves life if you know early. I've seen people dying few months after diagnosis because they were tested late.

ReplyDeleteYou married a kind man.
Did you contact your any of your exes to advise them to get tested?
ReplyDeletePoster, please don't contact any of them. You'll end up exposing yourself, they should find out on their own if they're indeed infected
DeleteI can't overstate how much I hate Donald Trump.
ReplyDeleteOne of the obstacles to fully erasing hiv from the body is the reservoir the virus creates in the brain. How to get HIV drugs to act on this reservoir has been an issue for scientists.
They were making good progress and the scientific community felt they were on the cusp of a huge medical breakthrough.
Donald Trump comes back to office and cancels all funding for that program. That program has been shut down and years of progress lost.
Why can't Africa fund their own programme? We cry about slavery, depending on foreign aid, isn't thst some sort of slavery? Make una dey blame Donald Trump! I am glad he cancelled it! Entitled lot!
DeleteAbeg enjoy your hubby, and your marriage. He is a good person.
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you poster...
ReplyDeleteMay God continue to keep your home.
Hiv no fit hungry me 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with us
May the almighty bless your husband and continue to keep your family together 🙏
Hiv hungry who,if I stone you. Anyway, thank God for you. I will never test positive in Jesus name, I've never checked my status before I'm so scared of getting tested. Maybe one day but I know I'm negative
ReplyDeleteJust try to conquer the fear and have it done.
DeleteIt's better you do it and know than live in fear.
"All the worker in my care centre always tells me how lucky I am and I thank God for the kind of man he gave me". Do you go around telling them your status?
ReplyDeleteNo,the office is quite small. I didn't mean the hospital workers. I mean the hiv unit, everyone in that unit knows most patients story. I don't tell people my status and I'm a volunteer part time in the unit too
DeleteVery educative column. Thanks poster for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned if the count is low like yours, a normal hiv test won't detect it.
So for intending to marry couples, what kind of test would you recommend, to detect it even if the count is one.
Not just for this, but other STIs (if you know)
And is it possible to make this column on a week day? I feel more people will see it. Weekends are usually cho.ke for many and they hardly have time to browse... (My opinion though)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. But hiv no fit hungry meooo. Na grenade I for throw your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family 🙏💖
I get the part you said "HIV go hungry you". Someone close to me has been living with it for the past 9yrs and she looks fresher an bubbly than most of us free from it.She's undetectable too. Read that prolonged use of the drugs also removes fat from the face so those of them that take good care of themselves have this thin fresh like face.
ReplyDeleteIn 2006,a popular actor spilled to someone close to me that a popular celebrity is living with it.The actor got to know cos they were taking life insurance policies and the popular celebrity didn't get a cover from the insurance company on health grounds. If true , it's possible that the prolonged use of the drugs contributes to this celebrity's every year young status.
For those believing God for complete healing I join my faith with yours in Jesus name.Amen.
What's the name of the actor na drop hint
DeleteThank you poster for answering all BVs questions including the annoying ones.
ReplyDeleteMay the gods Lord bless and keep you and your family safe.
No symptoms 😩 I'm scared .This post is putting fear in me now,I wished I didn't open it .
ReplyDeleteGo and get tested. One of the symptoms is fear
DeleteI have always learned that even with intercourse for hiv to be transmitted there has to be a cut/opening for the body fluid or blood to pass through and pass on the infection.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby is the real MVP
ReplyDeleteMy ex told me he can't cope when I told him I have pcos
Ordinary pcos? When marriage is full of ups and downs, I'm not sure his type can stay at a glimpse of little hitch in his marriage. God saved you from him
DeleteAs in....
DeletePCOS and he ran
DeleteWell thank God he left cos it could have been worse.
Thanks a lot for the education. I believe this culum will help in saving lives. God bless you. And your husband is a blessing ❤️
