Yesterday, I watched as black smoke came out the Sistine Chapel chimney twice, before the white smoke billowed. The anticipation of the thousands gathered at the Vatican, and the sheer joy when the white smoke signalled a New Pope, was truly goosebumps inducing. I followed it all and loved the experience.
ReplyDeleteThe CNN anchors were saying something about being a Pope akin to a 'near death' experience, because the elected cardinal will not return back home and he will now live his life exclusively for God and humanity.
When he emerged, he was fighting back tears, and I could only imagine what was going through his mind. Pretty sure it was overwhelming for him. May God give him the grace to have a successful reign. He was a very close ally of Pope Francis, and he'd definitely promote some of his kind policies.
Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, the First American Pope AKA Pope Leo XIV. History was made yesterday!

When we read the verse, 'We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ' (2 Corinthians 10:5 NCV), we tend to think it's about capturing sinful thoughts and getting them out of our minds. It is! But it's also about capturing creative thoughts and keeping them in our minds. It also means stewarding every word, thought, impression and revelation inspired by God's Spirit.
A pastor writes: 'The Aramaic word for "prayer" means "to set a trap". We often think of prayer as nothing more than words spoken to God, but maybe it's more than that. Prayer is also when God speaks to us through dreams and desires and promptings and impressions and ideas. Prayer is the mechanism whereby God ideas are conceived and captured. And it's our capacity for prayer that will ultimately determine our creative potential. One way to set prayer traps is by keeping a prayer journal...Journalling is one of the most overlooked and under-appreciated spiritual disciplines in our multi-tasking culture.' Your journal captures your journey. It shows you how far you have come and how far you still have to go. It reminds you of God's grace when you stumbled and his faithfulness that brought you back to the right road after you had taken the wrong one.
When you set a prayer trap, you capture each experience and wring the wisdom out of it to be better and stronger. Then, 'write down the revelation' (Habakkuk 2:2 NIV). Some do this digitally, others with pen and paper. What matters is that you are recording what God is doing in your head, in your heart and in your life.

ReplyDeleteHmmmm, went back to read more comments on yesterday's chronicle and to say i'm shocked will be putting it mildly. Yes, we all can't have same opinions about issues and it's totally fine but then......

Haaaa, to protect your own secret? Which makes me to come to the conclusion that there must be different gods for different people because i don't know the kind of god such a prayer is offered to. Definitely not the Almighty and sovereign God.
One thing we need to know is that for whatever good or bad we do, there must always be consequences. Which most times shows up when we least expect, when we might even have forgotten about the deed. This is why we must he careful what we do in life. No one is a saint, we all make mistakes, but when the mistakes have been made we need to learn from them to become better. If it comes with obvious consequences we should be magnanimous enough to accept it, not devising other evil means of cover up, it'll only make us sink deeper.
This is not me being judgemental please, a lot of things has just been going through my mind and I thought to share my thoughts. May God help us all in this journey of life. I wish us all a beautiful day and lovely weekend ahead.
