I learned how to navigate conflict and understand the differing viewpoints of those around me. These experiences taught me the importance of empathy and patience. I learned that every person has a story, shaped by their own life experiences, and this understanding has equipped me with the ability to approach conflicts with a level-headed mindset and a compassionate heart.
Among the hardest lessons I learned was about sacrifice and the weight of responsibility. In my family there are often unspoken expectations and roles that each member of the family must fulfill. I witnessed the sacrifices my Mom being the first wife made for the sake of harmony and stability. Her ability to balance her commitments helped me understand the value of dedication and hard work. I learned that love is not just about feelings, but about actions and choices. This has shaped my approach to relationships and my commitments in life, encouraging me to always put forth my best effort, even in trying circumstances.
Something happened recently, I completed my personal building and I surprised my mom and 2nd mom by taking them there on the day of house dedication and behold my 2nd Mom break down in tears and made some confession and at the end she said she's proud of me. As i wake up this morning to pray I reflect on my upbringing, I recognize that these lessons have forged my strength. Coming from a diverse and often turbulent background equipped me with a unique set of skills: adaptability, problem-solving, and resilience. I’ve learned how to stand tall in the face of adversity, drawing on the love I have for my family as a source of strength. I've become a strong man, not just for myself, but for those around me who look to me for support and guidance.
Indeed, coming from such background have made me who I am today—a man who values loyalty and understands the complexities of human relationships. I am grateful for all the lessons I learned in my polygamous home. They have given me the tools to navigate life with a perspective that balances compassion with strength, allowing me to approach challenges with confidence and grace. Each day, I strive to honor my roots by building a life filled with love, understanding, and resilience, aiming to create a legacy that reflects the lessons learned in my formative years.

ReplyDeleteI read a story about a Igbo boy stolen at age 8 by a Yoruba man, he was taken to ondo state and the man was claiming to be his father. An 8 years old was already old enough to know his real parents, the boy later went to the police after 7 years to report the "father" , though he can't speak Igbo language again but he was able to trace his way back home, what a world. The police couldn't even get him money or even return him back, I read he has to be hustling with the police in order to raise money, I wonder what kind of hustling. Well I thank God for the parents, the boy is indeed a very smart boy
