All seven people on board—including a two-year-old child and the pilot—lost their lives.

Preliminary reports suggest the crash was caused by poor visibility due to bad weather. The helicopter took off around 5:19 a.m., before its allotted time slot, and reportedly did not follow standard operating procedures. In response, the Uttarakhand government has suspended all Char Dham Yatra helicopter services and launched a high-level investigation.
This was the fifth helicopter crash in the region in just six weeks.
