Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has vowed to serve for only one term in office if he gets the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
When asked if he would consider the balance of power if given the ticket, the ex-governor of Rivers insisted it was an unwritten rule in Nigerian politics.
He replied:
“Of course. For now, the way Nigeria is, you must keep to that unwritten agreement that says North eight years and South eight years.
I led the fight against the PDP government. Why? Because there was an agreement that the government at the time would serve four years.
And after four years, that government reneged. And I said no, that would be unfair.
That will be instability at its peak because the North will react. So the best thing to do, is to support the Northern candidate to continue the balance of power.
This time around, the South must be allowed to complete their tenure.”

This same ADC that Atiku and Obi want to be President? Its like they didnt think this thing well before all rushing there....Wahala loading indeed...
That's how it's suppose to be in the power rotation system. H.E Peter Obi already submitted a letter to that effect of doing a single term if elected to complete the turn of the South to eight years.
ReplyDeleteI saw the Post yesterday of the coalition politicians and how some comments dragged H.E Peter Obi for associating with the other 'older' politicians. Why are we this hypocritical as a people? I can remember during last election, you guys faulted him saying, he can't do it alone without the north blablabla. He needs political heavyweight. Now he has aligned with the North and political heavyweight as you all suggested. So why the turnaround to shade and drag him for doing what you guys once suggested?
Mr President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not a man who leaves anything to chance. 2027 election will be interesting.

You needed two terms to govern 1 out of 36 states.
ReplyDeleteYou were speaker for 2 terms, not one.
You did 2 terms as minister and still left uncompleted projects.
Magically, you have found the formula to transform Nigeria in 1 term of 4 years.
You, Peter and all other Southern dreamers that think Atiku left Dubai to enthrone you with his money, na the one we fit believe make Una talk.
Decide amongst yourselves who will be VP and who will be minister. All this noise is unnecessary.
When Atiku could choose, he always went with Ben Obi. This tells you the profile of subordinates he prefers. No 80 year old man will be comfortable with having a VP with a massive profile.
It's unlikely a northern caucus will want a repeat of the YarAdua situation when they have a better chance of benefiting from same on another ticket and are then sure of 8-12 years.

King without kingdom keep ranting
DeleteDante, you are relatively young and politically naive about politics in Nigeria - this is not Amotekun talk. Eluupee Peteru Obi is also too weak and naive to govern a complex entity like Nigeria - the Northern political oligarchs would use him to play ludo like they did with GEJ. Currently, BAT and Wike are the only two Southern politicians that can hold down power and call their bluff.
DeleteWe can't keep recycling politicians, especially those who didnt do well when they had the chance to. This is wrong.
ReplyDeleteIf you all have too many parties, it's express ticket to the incumbent. Just have one solid party and you all come together and choose a person with good conscience, empathy, fear of God and good leadership.
ReplyDeletePeter Obi is still that man sha. (You are free to be a keypad warrior. Lol)
Just that, Atiku never still get opportunity to go collect back wetin him hide for Aso rock, so he won't step down for PO.
And the northerners are bent on taking power back to the north, while the south west are still shouting "Emilokun"
And we that put our trust and faith in God, are hear saying "any how Una want am, Baba God nah our assurance. No shaking. Nah Goshen we go always dey. Divine supply nah our forever experience"
They will scatter the party the way they form it. All of them want to be president at the same time, selfish lots.
ReplyDeleteAswear π everyone of them wants to be President.
DeleteParty of displaced politicians in Tinubu's voice.
I'm just looking at all of them with side eyes, I don't believe in any one of them, all of them are selfish and only care for themselves, they don't have Nigeria's interest at heart, they are just desperate to be in power and have access to the national cake.
ReplyDeleteTalk is cheap. When you enter now you'd be campaigning for 3rd term sef.
ReplyDeleteBy the way we are not interested in all these recycled politicians.
Don't mind them...they'll be lying through their teeths π
DeleteAdunni
What did you do when you were a governor and minister? Abeggi
ReplyDeleteAs for the new party, I don't see it standing, sam sam! Who will step back for who?
Unfortunately here is a Country where nothing counts. Your antecedent should speak for you going forward, but naaa they wanna die there π₯Ί
ReplyDeleteDon't bother, nobody will vote for you
ReplyDeleteOturugbeke!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that what they always say??
Isn't that what Tinubu said but he is busy campaigning for 2027 and travelling everywhere instead of working
Liar - Tinubu NEVER said he is only going to do one term. Bring your evidence! The coalition has failed from the 1st day of its formation. Some of the leaders are moles and working for BAT/APC. Una never learn about Nigerian politics and know who BAT isππ
DeleteThese people are really not trying to fix Nigerias problem, they just want the title on their resume.
ReplyDeleteRotimi Amechi was Stella crush that year. Stella can hype person to the moon. πππ
ReplyDeleteHe wants to be president, PO wants to be president, El Rufsi wants to be one, Atiku wants it too. The greed and ambition of the stakeholders will be the undoing of the new coalition. Atiku formed it for his ambition, not to help elect Obi. It was formed to get power back to the north as they feel Tinubu is out of control, not that they love Nigerians. They will use the southerners there and it will be back to the regular order of things. Who did Nigeria offend? Why can’t we have our own Ibrahim Traore?
ReplyDeleteThey are all greedy and desperate politicians. Ihope Mr Peter Obi knows the people he is dining with.
ReplyDeletePeter Eluupee Brewery Obi is not different from the people he is mixing up with now. Was he not with most of them in criminal-PDP? Infact he is back home. All Nigerian politicians are deceitful, wicked, corrupt and selfish.
