The suspended lawmaker, who relied on a recent judgment delivered by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had recently vowed to resume Senate proceedings on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The spokesman for the Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, in a statement on Sunday, insisted that there was no subsisting court order mandating the Senate to recall the lawmaker before the expiration of her suspension.
Natasha was suspended in March 2025 for violating Senate rules after a seat arrangement brawl with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual misconduct, an allegation Akpabio denied.
The Senate spokesman disclosed that the judgment did not contain any positive or mandatory order directing the Senate to recall Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan prior to the end of her suspension.
“It is therefore surprising and legally untenable that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, while on appeal and having filed a motion for stay against the valid and binding orders made against her, is attempting to act upon an imaginary order of recall that does not exist,” Adaramodu said.

Life is fleecing, all this back and forth is not needed. Only God understands what's between Senate president n herself. Only God will come through for Naija. The leadership needs to be overhauled
ReplyDeleteThey say na relied
ReplyDeleteSo the judge was drunk when he made the judgement to reinstall her back
Akpabio, you are not God, you are not even a deity, you are an ordinary mortal. You are not immortal.
The judiciary that should have served as a watch dog, see what it has been subjected to...
ReplyDeletePresident doesn't obey the law

Nobody listens to the judiciary anymore
Institution has sold it's self respect for peanuts...Shame!

DeleteNo judge reinstated the senator and she knows this. It's why she had continued to avoid going they took now. She knows that of she allows her social media following to push her to go there without rendering that apology, she is wasting her time as another punishment will follow. The judge advised/ suggested her return so as not to disenfranchise her constituents but ruled that she must revert the apology to Akpabio. The judiciary cannot also overreach as to dismiss the demand of the senate for her to apologize to them before returning.
ReplyDeleteThe judge rejected every single prayer she made
The same Natasha that went a-sobbing to the media and the conference of legislators has not gone to court to sue Akpabio for any form of SA. She has not tabled a single iota of evidence against him and wants to return to the same chambers where she held sway. It's people who are carried away by emotions and driven by sentiments that will pretend not to see the obvious.
"I am a lawyer" is not by costume. It is not by having no knowledge of the guidebook of one's workplace and paying colleagues who are just as clueless. It's not by misinterpretation of court judgements all the time only to be drawn back by more informed people.
If that Sandra Duru's case progresses, there are criminal implications. I hope her legal team is aware of this.
