On August 10th, Singer Davido and the love of his life Chioma will be wedded legally forever in Miami, Florida but Chioma's father will not be the one to walk his daughter down the aisle because his visa and that of Chioma's mum was revoked and the real reason has emerged after the first report
Insiders revealed that the real reason their 5 year visas were revoked was because when Chiomas parents were asked at the point of entry into the US how long they would stay, they said one month but when they got in,the reality on ground was different as Chioma had a post partum condition and also became anemic and the mum had no choice but to extend her stay and nurse her daughter back to good health while the dad returned..
The authorities termed the act of staying longer than declared without informing them as a lie and cancelled the visa of both parents (because it was issued as a couple)...they have allegedly been asked to reapply but unfortunately it would be after the wedding.
The US has been on a visa cancelling spree and a lot of people have had their 5 year visas cancelled....
Here is wishing Chioma and Davido all the best as they exchange their vows in front of family and cherished friends.
They could have written to the embassy with a doctor’s report seeking an extension .

DeleteI've never heard visas being given as a couple in the USA or anywhere else as there is no couple passport.
Once your visa is approved, you have 5 months to stay without needing re-entry with a B1 visa so this story just doesn't seem factual.

ReplyDeleteWe take too much for granted as Nigerians. With a 5 year visa multiple entry visa, you should be able to stay up to 6 months at a stretch and if for any reason, you need an extension, contact the authorities to ensure that you remain legally in the country. Well, its not the end of the world.

It’s 180 days actually but people usually count it wrong by assuming it’s 6 months but reality dawns when they spend 6 months and USCIS terms it overstaying but with this regime; anything can happen as you can be denied entry as legal PR or visa cancelled if you have committed any atrocities.

Was the father also doing omugwo with the mum that he too overstayed? . The thing is their initial plans failed especially with Davido on the spotlight the system eyes will be on them strictly. They got played and it was very intentional . I read chioma’s family is rich so there’s some level of exposure that’s expected from them of the least over staying.even Nicki Minaj with the millions of dollars she pays as tax is not yet a US citizen despite married to a US citizen. They think it’s Nigeria. And again does Davido not know how the system work, it’s pure intentional. Let her concentrate on getting her green card and forget carrying her family along that’s if ‘they’ want her to have it
