Nigerian Govt Reacts To Canadian Judge Labelling PDP And APC As Terrorist Organisations.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned a recent ruling by a Canadian federal court that labeled the country's two major political parties—the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—as terrorist organisations.

The ruling comes from a Canadian immigration case involving Douglas Egharevba, a Nigerian who applied for asylum in Canada. His application was denied due to his past affiliations with both the PDP and APC. The court cited intelligence reports linking the parties to electoral violence and democratic subversion, particularly during the 2003 and 2004 elections.
Justice Phuong Ngo upheld the decision, stating that under Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), mere membership in an organisation associated with terrorism or subversion is grounds for inadmissibility—even without proof of personal involvement
