This was announced by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Godwin Ahianyo on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze were arrested on 20 June 2025 and later arraigned before various circuit courts in Kumasi.
Ekenze pleaded guilty on his first appearance at the Atasemanso Circuit Court and was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
Friday and Agwazie, who initially pleaded not guilty, were subsequently found guilty at Circuit Court 3 and each handed an 8-year sentence on two counts, to run concurrently.
Further proceedings at Circuit Court 1 saw all three receive additional 20-year concurrent sentences on two counts, while Ekenze was again convicted at Circuit Court 2 and given an extra 10-year concurrent term.
The convicts are currently serving their sentences at Kumasi Central Prison.
Police say the successful prosecution highlights their commitment to tackling organised and transnational crime.
They also called on the public to support crime prevention efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities.

Is 96 years not much for car thief'?
ReplyDeleteThis hate is real
The victims of the car theft might suffer the harm caused by the robbers for a lifetime if someone was irreversibly injured or a life was lost.
DeleteJust read the article first. READING DOES NOT KILL. The ignorance is even more real.
DeleteThese are those that give Nigerians a bad name, why steal?
ReplyDeleteBut then,96 years is a lengthy sentence, just say life imprisonment.
Don't steal 🙄🙄🙄
ReplyDeleteAfrica and their justice system, the same way someone was sentence to 3years in Osun state for stealing 3k worth of yam. And it will cost the government 56k a year to maintain a prisoner in prison. At the end of the day who benefit? I think it is only rapist that needs to be locked away for longer or murderers.
ReplyDeleteOnly an armed robber will type your statement.
DeleteLaw abiding citizens deserve protection for a time, from people like you and incarceration serves as a deterrent from those you have not yet recruited.
If you want to save money for Nigeria, don't do the crime.
From Nigeria went all the way to Ghana to steal a car. Just see the shame they brought upon themselves
ReplyDeleteThey should come and accuse Ghana of being tribal.since these criminals went to develop their land
