Bandits on Wednesday night abducted two serving councillors and an Imam in a daring raid at Tsauni community in Gusau, capital of Zamfara State. The councillors, who represent Gidan Goga and Tsibiri wards in Maradun Local Government Area, were reportedly seized around 8:05 pm near a police outpost, shortly after performing the Maghrib prayers.


 The price of refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, otherwise known as cooking gas has increased by 34.6 percent on a Week-on-Week, WoW basis, to N17,500 this week, from N12,750 the previous week. Investigation revealed that the price of 1kg currently retails at N1,350, N1,400 and N1,500 depending on the location.

 The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on Thursday confirmed receiving a petition demanding a probe into the handling of Rivers State federal allocations by the state’s former Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.). The petition, filed by civil rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, came days after Ibas ended his administration of the state on September 18.

 Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that the forthcoming national convention of the peoples democratic party must be anchored on fair processes, open debate and inclusivity. Makinde, in a newsletter released on Thursday evening, stressed that this was crucial to repositioning the party and strengthening its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 The arrowhead of a kidnap gang terrorising Kwara and neighbouring states, popularly known as Maidawa, has been killed alongside several of his foot soldiers in sustained airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force. It was gathered on Thursday that the onslaught took place on Tuesday around the thick forests of Isanlu-Isin in Kwara State and adjoining areas in Kogi State.

 The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, dismissed a suit seeking a refund of all Rivers’ monies in the Consolidated Revenue Fund released, appropriated and expended by the Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas. Justice James Omotosho, in a ruling, held that the Federal High Court (FHC) has no jurisdiction to determine the subject matter, having stemmed from the presidential proclamation of the state of emergency.

 The Police in Bauchi say a middle aged woman allegedly set herself ablaze at a family residence in Bauchi and died. Mr Ahmed Wakil, Spokesman of the command disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Bauchi. According to Wakil, the woman was said to have sought to see one Yelwa Abubakar Balewa but when she was told Yelwa was not available, she allegedly poured petrol on herself and set herself ablaze.

Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested the General Overseer of Champion the Truth Cathedral, Bishop Ndibueze Okorie Onyagoziri, for allegedly having repeated sex with a 22-year-old female sickle cell patient in the state. It was gathered on Thursday that the cleric had been in the habit of having canal knowledge of female members of his church who were in one need or the other, to provide succour for them.
