I went to the clinic for drugs and the lady managing me was seriously complaining of new addition of patients for her to be managing, she said they've being recording new patients almost every day because of the new strain of malaria in town, many pople are coming to hospital, and FBC could sometimes detect if there's need for hiv testing cos it'll pick some irregularities in your red blood cells.
She said most of the new patients are mostly female in their 20s, this is really alarming.
I'm sure that the proportion of those that are aware of their status is lower than those that aren't aware of their status. And I can assure you that for every positive female there are like 3 male that could be infected too, most men don't even like visiting the hospital until it's very serious unlike the women
So,yes one of the preventive measures against hiv is testing.
One thing I notice is, once someone goes for hiv testing and the result is negative, they become very careful and meticulous in their affairs, they become so aware of their health.

Wetin be this? Does malaria cause HIV?
ReplyDeleteNo, what I meant is when people keeps having malaria, like the new malaria strain in town, you may require to do full blood count and if there's any abnormality in the result, Dr might request more tests to be done and one of those tests is hiv testing
DeleteMalaria doesn't cause HIV but when patient comes for check up finding as a result of their complaints, test are run and hiv is detected, the malaria symptoms will bring them first
DeleteIt's cheaper to maintain health than to restore it.
ReplyDeleteI hope the USAID's withdrawal from financing testing and treatment won't lead to a massive sloughing off of people.
E no good make person no know him status oooh
