Watch Afeez Oyetoro, Nissi George and other fantastic actors as Jaiyesimi’s musical play lights up the stage

Produced by Ayo Jaiyesimi, founder of the durable and impactful Thespian Family Theatre, ITAN the Story is an engaging but entertaining play of generational aspirations, friction and reconciliation. In the cast are iconic comic actor, Afeez Oyetoro (aka Saka), tested and trusted Nissi George, Hephzibah Idakwo, Victor Oyebode (Boy Alinco), Oluwakemi Aderibigbe, Femi Oyegbile, Lilian Aliu and Boye Oshuntuyi, among other established and rising talents.
With the play, Jaiyesimi, a seasoned human resources practitioner and award-winning theatre producer, is on a mission to spark a conversation that has long been overdue: bridging the gap between generations. With the youth bursting with energy, vivaciousness, and innovation, and the older generation bringing steady experience and structure, Jaiyesimi believes that together, they can create a beautiful world.
However, cross-generational tension often gets in the way, hindering the potential for collaboration and progress. The youth are often seen as restless, seeking change and pushing boundaries, while the older generation is perceived as lacking in adventure, stuck in their ways. But what if we could harness the strengths of both?
Jaiyesimi notes in a statement: “By combining the creativity and enthusiasm of the young with the wisdom and experience of the old, we can unlock a powerful synergy that can drive positive change and create a brighter future. Her initiative seeks to ignite this conversation, encouraging us to work together towards a more harmonious and inclusive world.”
The play is this engaging but it is driven by generously entertaining spices like humour, suspense, songs, dance and the wit that keep the audience endlessly laughing even as they reflect on the issues being dramatised.
Because of the Eyo Festival and road closures around Onikan, ITAN will now be on stage at MUSON on December 25 and 26. All previously purchased tickets however remain valid.
