Court Awards Human Rights Lawyer Femi Falana $25,000 Damages Against Meta
A Lagos State High Court has ordered Meta Platforms Inc. to pay human‑rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) $25,000 in damages for publishing a false Facebook video that claimed he was suffering from a terminal illness. Justice Olalekan Oresanya ruled that Meta unlawfully processed Falana’s sensitive personal data and violated his privacy rights under Nigerian law.
