DeleteI lived with my inlaws for the first 6 months after I got married. I heard from our neighbor that I'm a dirty woman because I don't come to clean their rooms 🤣

ReplyDeleteAfter some months, same person that peddled the rumour fought with the man's wife on the street. Useless lot.
Some years ago, when I was a teenager, I fell seriously ill.
ReplyDeleteTo my surprise, rumours started spreading that I had eaten food sacrificed to idols — that was supposedly why I was sick.
When I heard it, I was shocked at how people who only knew I was unwell could jump to such a conclusion.
Till today, I still laugh whenever I remember that incident.
Mine was when i was 17. My cousin accused me of having many boyfriends and having had multiple abortions. My other cousin who overheard, ran all the way to my house to tell me what was being said. I was so upset. I told my father ( who was a lawyer) that i wanted to sue my cousin for defamation of character and was ready to do a test. My father discouraged me and told me to let the matter rest. He knew the accusations were borne out of envy. When i look back, i just smile. In fact as i type i just remembered another accusation.... that will be for another day.
ReplyDeleteI had just finished from secondary school,my then best friend and I where always together,she had a boy friend and I didn't have then,she told her boyfriend that I took her to 4040(a new club in Owerri then)which is a lie,a day came she begged me to beg her boyfriend cos they had a misunderstanding,so I called him to beg on her behalf, boyfriend said I should use my phone to call him so he can call back,I did and he called the next day when she hadn't come to my house,he told me a lot my supposed bestie said about me which where all lies,I was gobsmacked. I told her about it,she didn't deny it so ended the relationship.
