Fake Crypto Scam Hub In Nigeria Busted By Meta, UK And Nigeria's Police Teams.

In a joint operation, Nigeria's police arrested seven people in Agbor, Delta State, for operating an online scam center that tricked people in the US and UK into fake cryptocurrency investments.


The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) led the raid. They worked with the UK's National Crime Agency and Meta (the company behind Facebook) who provided key support and intelligence to track down the scam group.

The perpetrators created fake Facebook groups and communities to trick people mainly from the US, UK, and other countries into fake investment schemes. Victims were tricked with phishing links and promises of high returns on retirement or crypto investments, leading to major financial losses.

The arrested individuals are:
- Collins Ogwuorie
- Christian Ogwuorie
- Gbenoba Emmanuel
- Samuel Olufemi
- Collins Victor
- Onyeka Emenem
- Kefas Ogunbor
Police recovered 26 mobile phones, 42 SIM cards, and one laptop from the scene.
