Speaking in an interview with THISDAY, the Benin City-born pastor traced his spiritual journey to his humble upbringing in Edo State, saying the environment he grew up in helped shape his discipline, faith and resilience.
Addressing reports that put his age at 55, the cleric dismissed the claim, insisting that he is 44 years old.
According to him, the age being circulated online does not add up, especially considering that he is the sixth child in his family and the ages of his siblings make the claim impossible. He also mentioned that his mother is about 80 years old, further stressing that the 55-year claim cannot be correct.
He revealed that the age mix-up likely started years ago when he wanted to travel abroad after relocating to Lagos.
In his words:
“There was a time I wanted to travel abroad when I came to Lagos State and they felt my age was too small. When I was renewing my passport, I didn’t know that while they were filing the form, they added years to my age.
I complained then but there was nothing I could do. I’m sure that’s where they got it from.
I am 44 years old. I got married around 21 or 22.”
He added that the correct details can easily be verified by people who grew up with him and said he is determined to set the record straight.
