Pinky's CORNER

Recently, I was at a school to administer my instrument as part of the requirements to obtain my M.Ed. Saw a parent who was bitterly lamenting about the writing of their child and the boy's academic life to the class teacher (a boy in JSS2).

I was waiting for the same teacher to help retrieve all my instruments from other teachers and before then, we have both met and discussed at length. I even gave her some tips on what to do and how to handle slow learners and average learners.

‎In the middle of their discussion, I asked if I could help give solution while standing close to them. They gave me the opportunity and introduced a STUDENT PEN GRIP that I've introduced to people years back and it's really working though, it will reduce the speed of writing of that child but with time, the handwriting will change then, him/her can now work on the speed.

I also asked the mother to know her involvement in the child's academic life. I realized that, the mother and the father don't have time, they are both busy looking for money.

‎I advised them to be involved in helping the child grow and develop mentally in his academic life. You can't say you are busy looking for money to train up your child(ren) while your presence is not felt in their lives.

Everything is not about money. If not all the time but once a while, be involved as a father or mother in looking into their books and doing their assignments with them(even if you don't know, internet is there to help you read up and teach them), by the time you do this frequently, you will get to know alot and it will make it easy for you to point out mistakes or error anywhere and make necessary corrections.

‎On Wednesday last week, the said teacher called me but I couldn't pick up then I remembered on friday that she called and needed to return her call to know why she did. When I put the call through, she said they did open day and the parent of the said boy asked after me which was why she called me to speak with them. She said they wanted to thank me because the instrument I recommended for them it's really working and the boy's handwriting has really improved. Though, I was happy to hear that but I told her not to bother herself and tell them when next they come, not to bother thanking me.

‎As a mother or father, complaining about your child's handwriting, please get this tool and you will thank me later. Also, be involved in making their academic life fun and stop saying "you are too busy". They are your future. Please, as you are investing money, please invest your time too.

  1. Kudos. Your involvement made a huge difference in that child's life. This is a reminder that being present and engaged is just as important as providing for our children. Thanks for sharing

    1. The student pen grip has two open holes where the child can fix the fingers used in holding the pen and the grip has an hole to fit in for any pen

The grip ensures steady finger movement...you can order for urs from me if you wish to
