DOGS Corner

So why won’t you leave that circle? You know deep within you’ve outgrown them. So why do you still keep them around? Why go back to where growth never came from? Why maintain a circle that held you back for so long?

This isn’t a eulogy to pride and self-elevation. This is asking that you acknowledge what is right before you, asking you to give currency to the validity of what has been gnawing your mind all this while.

You sit with them, you engage in the small talk, the chit-chat that leads nowhere, the pointless discussions, the draining arguments, the snide remarks that is intend to cut you down, pierce you and make you doubt your capabilities. You don’t need to be there.

But face it if you will and I think you must. Everyone owns his or her growth process or journey. You got to where you are because you made a conscious decision to embrace growth, pay your dues, make the sacrifice and determine to be better. When results start speaking, the environment or circle that never contributed to that reality, should not be maintained. It is not on you that they choose to remain where they are.

Here’s the bitter truth, except they are also pursuing a growth trajectory and possess an active, actionable desire for growth and self-improvement, they will drag you down. Not because they are actively trying to (even though some may), but because they offer the familiar and the familiar offers comfort and complacency. You can’t maintain growth this way. If the ideas aren’t getting bigger, if the talk isn’t enriching and you desire growth, what are you doing in that circle? The deep only calls out to the deep.

If you aren’t growing with them, choose to grow without them. IF growth is what you truly desire. Not everyone will think you are capable of it and that’s fine. Not everyone will think you can do what you intend to and that’s even better. But what do YOU think? Your dreams and aspirations will only come through and true if you don’t abandon them. You need the right environment for that. Not a circle where growth is not even considered, not associations that add nothing of value. Don’t mention it if you aren’t committed to it.

It is lonely at the top but that’s a good thing. Clatter, chatter and blather of small, empty talk does no one no good. Let’s all strive to embrace the quiet assurance of success, the tranquility of tangible results and the endless pursuit of being better versions of ourselves. It is a lonely road, one full of and filled with self-doubt but stay the course.
You will find huge rewards at your destination.
