Reality TV Star Tania Omotayo Calls Out Those Who Do Luxury Items Bias On Social Media

Nigerian businesswoman, reality TV star and fashion entrepreneur Tania Omotayo has gone on a passionate rant about a trend she keeps seeing online.
She says that she genuinely needs someone to explain the logic because it’s driving her crazy.

She pointed out how people proudly list a long roll‑call of luxury brands in their videos , shoes by Bottega, bag by Chanel, perfume by Louis Vuitton, earrings by Prada, sunglasses by this, lip gloss by MAC , tagging fifteen global companies that didn’t pay them a single naira, But the moment it comes to a Nigerian designer, suddenly it becomes, “They didn’t pay me to tag them, so I’m not giving free promo.”

Tania questioned the double standard, asking whether the International brand they tagged paid them, and why people feel the need to announce that they won’t tag a local brand when they’ve already tagged a dozen international ones for free.
She stressed that Gucci and Chanel don’t know who they are, yet people happily tag them because it feels like a status symbol, while refusing to support a small Instagram vendor who sold them a fifty‑thousand‑naira dress.

She says that nobody is forcing anyone to tag any brand, but she can’t understand why people go out of their way to declare that a Nigerian designer didn’t pay for promo, especially when some of the luxury items being tagged are even fake.
For her, it makes no sense that people will freely promote billion‑dollar global brands but refuse to help a local business whose narrative could change from one simple tag. She ended by saying she genuinely wants someone to educate her because she feels like she’s the one who doesn’t have sense, and the whole thing is giving her a headache.

  3. Please if I paid the full amount for any item I'm buying, I have the right to tag whosever I want to tag, if I want to tag a small brand I will do so(that is if I want to do it), so some brands should not feel entitled to be tagged when the celebrity paid for the item in full, most of them are influencers and that's part of how they make money, the luxury brand they tag has paid their dues in the industry already.

  4. I get her point.
Those tagging international brands feels they will gain more if those brands recognizes them while the local brands won't benefit them, if tagged for free except they are paid to do so.

    1. Recognise who?
Some Brand owners fit check log and sue if there is no purchase.
Somebody has been called out for a fake bag by a Brand owner who pointed out the clear points of fakeness.
That some of our taggers are not being sued shows the Brand owners see them as inconsequential taggers.

    4. Cynthia...No. You didn't get her point. She's hitting directly at Uche Monti (remember she allegedly displaced Tania with her full chest and lips🙆😂) who always states on the red carpet that she's not tagging Nigerian designer labels. Deadass wrong👎

2 days ago arriving on the red carpet for the movie premiere of Moni, she whole heartedly tagged and quoted prices in millions of the worth of her designer ensemble including the tiny mock pink bag.
      Tania went berserk😂

Find the gist. We wey dey sew, we get all the inside scoop jor.
Won't encourage anybody to buy £14m worth ensemble when a Nigerian designer can do better with N16m. That's absolute madness.
Me sha, all my white designer Slippers, awon Bottega Venetas, the stretch strap sandals is a $1,000, white slippers scarce like wetin, mine come from Ivory Coast and Niger Republic. (Tokunbo pere, in Naija currency for una it's N50k and N22k only). I have hungry relatives to feed. Ain't spending N1.8m for any whitey I can dry clean and paint my toenails with white laquer wen I no dey craze🙄😂🙆 Shebi it's also same just used abi? Ok na.

Watch the video clips before it's deleted.
