Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested suspected gunrunner Kelvin Ebikeniye Dugo after 850 rounds of live ammunition were found in his possession at Ivara Esu Estate in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State.
He was picked up on Monday March 16, 2026 shortly after he took delivery of the concealed consignment, which security sources say was supplied by another suspected gunrunner, Azenda Barnabas, also known as Jagaban, based in Aliade, Benue State.
The ammunition was hidden inside food supplies, and two empty AK‑47 magazines were also recovered during the operation.
According to the DSS, the arrest forms part of ongoing nationwide efforts to dismantle arms‑trafficking networks and curb the circulation of illegal weapons across Nigeria.
