Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Group, has reflected on the bold choice she made at 40 to leave what she described as “a really great job at an oil and gas company” in order to pursue her purpose in the media and creative space.
Speaking at a recent event, she said she walked away from the comfort of a 9‑to‑5 because she felt “there was something more that God wanted me to do,” adding that stepping out of that “comfort zone” was one of the hardest but most defining decisions of her life. Abudu urged others to search inward rather than rely on external advice, saying, “I can’t really tell you what to do… What is your purpose? And you can only discover that.”
She encouraged people to identify the “white gaps” in society—needs that remain unmet—and build solutions around them, noting that innovations like Uber and Airbnb emerged because someone dared to ask, “Where are the gaps? How can I find them?”
Bitch you did nothing groundbreaking. You are one of many and fading Nigerian celebrities. You should have stuck with your oil job and elevated through your hardwork if it was paying good. Because in few years, you will be forgotten.

Sometimes when I read the things ignorant Nigerians yarn, I just laugh out loud!!! Mo is a hard working workaholic. She has been serving the oil & gas especially Mobil and other multinationals since forever. For crying out loud, she owns VIC Lawrence and other businesses with proper contracts running into 'you don't want to know figures' prior to her pursuing her purpose in the Creative Industry. And she excels in whatever she does. Who be the banker or gominor and when did they come into money and power for where Mo dey? She may have liked and dated and dates any man of her choice especially the loaded and those in power strategically. E no concern anybody because that is her circle and she cannot settle for less, as a legally divorced and single woman. Her circle has always been lite and among the movers and shakers of Naija long before showbiz and that is her leverage. Just learn from her and move on because you cannot match her stride, men or no men. Her kind use and discard because she learned the hard way and did away with it to fulfil her potential.

You yourself won't even know it is a calling, but you will just be feeling a constant nudging in your spirit to leave what you are currently doing, you will start seeing something new in what is out of your comfort zone. At that point, just yield. And if that is by the spirit of God, He will make a way even if you don't have a dime to your name!. If we will all pay attention to what God is leading us into-which is most time extraordinary, we will realize we will be better off doing just the ordinary. What is the brief of what I am trying to tell you? if God is leading you into a thing that is by all means different from what is currently normal to you, step aside and ask for direction. Shalom!
