Anambra State Gov Soludo Bans Extravagant Weeklong Burials And Expensive Condolence Gifts In The State

Governor Charles Soludo’s of Anambra State wants to reduce the heavy costs families face and stop burials from disrupting work during the week. According to reports, the new measures ban giving cows, goats, bags of rice, or other costly items as condolence gifts. People can only bring cash, one jar of palm wine, one carton of beer, or one crate of soft drinks.

Burials and funeral events must now happen only on Saturdays and finish in one day. No more midweek burials from Monday to Friday. Wake keep ceremonies are also stopped. Other rules include no dancing with caskets, no blocking roads, and no big billboards or posters of the dead person around the state, corpses must not stay in mortuary for more than two months.
The state wants to make funerals simpler so families do not go into debt. Violators of the ban would pay a fine of ₦100,000, spend six months in jail, or both.

  7. Go and seat down, you are always in the news for rubbish. Allow people spend their money the way they wish. When your own person dies, do what makes you sleep well at night, Enough of all these roadside leaders dictating how we should behave in this country, Next, he will tell people not to marry short ladies or do white wedding. Focus on why you are elected and leave petty matters for umunna.

  8. All these things create jobs
The caterer cooking all week long is not complaining
The cleaners too are getting paid
If you can’t do all that, enjoy the party and leave
People need to learn to do what they can and leave the rest
