The kidnappers contacted the family and demanded ₦50 million.
After negotiations, the ransom was reduced to ₦17 million, which the family paid.
Following the payment, the family reached out to the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in Katsina State. The unit immediately launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of six bandits on May 23.
Their arrest then led investigators to the alleged mastermind; Nuru Aliyu Garwa who was picked up on May 24, 2026.
During a search of his residence, operatives reportedly found:

--The motorcycle used for operations
--Other incriminating items
Authorities say investigations are still ongoing.
