To be honest, there is NOTHING 'happy' about Workers Day in Nigeria...
ReplyDeleteTo start with, the minimum wage, viz a viz cost of living, is ridiculous! Workers' take home pay, can't even take them home. 🥹
Meanwhile, bills choke! Feeding, accommodation, family, medicals etc. 😢
Let's not even talk about the terrible working conditions our workers have to endure, just to make ends meet. And by the way, the ends NEVER meet! 🙆
Dear Workers, lets keep pushing. It's unfortunate we have found ourselves in this mess. May God bless the work of our hands, and provide us with better jobs that will make the efforts worthwhile. 🙏

Wanted to buy some stuff last night in the street I live. After purchase, I tried to make a transfer but network couldn't let that go I tried so many times but to no avail. I told the woman I will check back later. She said I should go with the items picked. I said no, I'll come back. She insisted I go with it and I insisted I will come back. All of what I bought came out ₦9,650. I left without taking them on how she tried so hard to make me go with it.
ReplyDeleteShe knows my compound and I usually patronise her. She knows I haven't bought on credit before and I see a woman that really wants to sell her market. In all, I left without going with it. Though I will pick them up this morning before going out as network have been restored.
My reason is simple. There are things I've decided not to engage on. One of them is this credit buying. It reduces one's personality. Secondly, it creates an avenue on people to rate you. I make no boast, I'm credit worthy on every area I have stayed. Even on my mention, people get things on credit to any seller. I still remember how my guys back them in Onitsha used my name to eat at a particular restaurant. Sometimes they'll let me know and other times they won't keep me on the know. Later on they'll go and pay or I'll pay when I'm being asked by the seller.
Finally, not buying on credit create this intentionality about you. Again, it makes you contented on yourself and you'll keep your pride.
The very same person who begs you to take on credit and pay later, won't hesitate to insult and embarrass you when you didn't't meet up to pay back as discussed.
