The assistant to late Friends star Matthew Perry has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of drug‑related offenses linked to the actor’s death investigation.
According to multiple reports, Kenneth Iwamasa was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for injecting the actor with the ketamine dose that killed him in October 2023. Prosecutors said Iwamasa repeatedly administered the drug which he obtained illegally and without medical training and gave Perry the fatal injection before leaving him alone in his hot tub, where he was later found dead.
He pleaded guilty in 2024 to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death. The judge noted that Iwamasa knew about Perry’s addiction struggles yet continued supplying and injecting him, even after seeing him lose consciousness twice that month.
While Perry had been receiving legal ketamine treatments for depression, the amount found in his body was far beyond therapeutic levels. Iwamasa’s actions along with those of four other defendants, including two doctors and a drug counsellor were ruled as criminally responsible for the overdose.
