The assistant to late Friends star Matthew Perry has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of drug‑related offenses linked to the actor’s death investigation.

According to multiple reports, Kenneth Iwamasa was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for injecting the actor with the ketamine dose that killed him in October 2023. Prosecutors said Iwamasa repeatedly administered the drug which he obtained illegally and without medical training and gave Perry the fatal injection before leaving him alone in his hot tub, where he was later found dead.
He pleaded guilty in 2024 to conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death. The judge noted that Iwamasa knew about Perry’s addiction struggles yet continued supplying and injecting him, even after seeing him lose consciousness twice that month.
While Perry had been receiving legal ketamine treatments for depression, the amount found in his body was far beyond therapeutic levels. Iwamasa’s actions along with those of four other defendants, including two doctors and a drug counsellor were ruled as criminally responsible for the overdose.

ReplyDeleteCan't these guys fly to Africa when depress, drink our palm wine, eat our ugba, abacha, amala, pepper soup, swim in our local rivers, interact with our market women, watch street fight and boy friend's snatching fight and get better?
ReplyDeleteGod help us
There's a serious comprehension problem amongst certificate wielders in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the problems with addicts. The family that couldn't solve the addiction problem for the addict who wanted to continue using even if it killed him, start looking for a scapegoat.
This greedy employee is getting blamed for the bad decisions of an addict. Without participating in administrating the addict's drug of choice, he would have fired him and perhaps even witch hunted him.
The moment you notice issues with addiction in an employer or colleagues, even family members, move on and mourn the loss. Very few human beings are as selfish ,self centered and cocky as people who use.
This same man being painted as a victim would speak about how he is absolved of his decisions to continually relapse because addiction is an illness. If he didn't start toying with controlled substances, how will this illness get to him?
