Akwa Ibom State Gov Eno Fulfils Promise As Ibom Air Begins Scheduled Uyo-Accra International Flights

Governor Umo Eno has fulfilled his promise as Ibom Air officially begins scheduled international flights between Uyo and Accra. The inaugural flight on Sunday, June 28, saw the Governor ditch the State aircraft and fly with regular passengers, showcasing confidence in the State-owned airline and the new world‑class aviation infrastructure.

Ibom Air will operate the Uyo–Accra route twice weekly, Thursdays and Sundays strengthening Akwa Ibom’s rise as a regional aviation hub and opening fresh opportunities for tourism, business and investment across West Africa.

The flight, operated with a CRJ‑900 Bombardier aircraft, was piloted by Captain William Iyoho and Second Officer Mfoniso Mkpong, one of the young pilots trained under Governor Eno’s aviation development programme.

With this milestone, Akwa Ibom’s Victor Attah International Airport now stands as a bona fide international gateway, offering seamless Abuja–Accra connectivity through Uyo and redefining Nigeria’s aviation landscape
