According to the US State Department, investigators found that some foreign nationals used fake documents, visa fixers, and coaching services to secure entry into the US for childbirth.
In West Africa, one US embassy uncovered over 100 fraudulent cases, while another embassy in North Africa revoked more than 100 visas linked to the scheme.
In Europe, officials traced over 400 suspected cases to companies that arranged housing, hospital plans, and coached applicants on how to deceive immigration officers.
The US government says it has now shut down these networks, revoked the visas involved, and permanently banned several offenders. The move comes as the Trump administration intensifies scrutiny of birth tourism and tightens immigration controls.
