Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently arrested a 67 year old woman named Mrs. Mary Yetunde Barek at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Mary Barek, who holds Nigerian and British citizenship and works as a caregiver in the United Kingdom, was caught on June 28, 2026. She was at Terminal 2, getting ready to board a Virgin Atlantic flight to London.
During a search of her luggage, NDLEA officers found 31 large wraps of cocxine which weighed a total of 13 kilograms. It was cleverly wrapped and shaped to look like real bunches of plantain. They were mixed in with other food items in her bags.
She allegedly admitted that the cocaine belonged to her when they questioned her.

ReplyDeleteThis is why I can never ever ever envy anyone.
ReplyDeleteApart from being brought up in childhood with contentment, who knows the source of anyone's livelihood?
This may even be her 10th drug trip.
Please, there is dignity in labour.
There is such grace in being able to sleep with two eyes closed.
In being able to move freely, being able to use your own car instead of taxis, not constantly looking over your shoulders...
At this her age, after prison, what else?
