Usama was among six Nigerians who travelled from Sokoto to Abidjan in August 2025 for business but were arrested on arrival and held under harsh conditions.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu‑Ojukwu, demanded compensation for Usama’s family and condemned the detention that left two survivors critically ill from malnutrition, as they were reportedly fed once a day.

I don't blame the Ivoriens. They saw the Nigerian names and the region they came from, they now view those people as terrorists and bandits..

ReplyDeleteThis seems frightening. Travelling is so risky, you just don’t know how you will be received in a place. To think that young man would likely still be alive had he remained home. Condolences to his family.
