The President ordered that the investigation be completed and a detailed report submitted to him within thirty days.
The directive follows the discovery that the PFIPC is fictitious. It was never established by the Federal Government of Nigeria and has no basis in any law, presidential instrument, executive approval or any other lawful act of government.
One Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew presented himself as the Director General of the PFIPC and falsely claimed to be a presidential appointee.
The ICPC is to investigate issues including forged appointment letters and other official government documents, the use of false claims of presidential appointment to seek or obtain official recognition and diplomatic support such as visa facilitation, and the opening of multiple bank accounts in the names of purported government agencies using allegedly forged documents.
President Tinubu also directed the ICPC to examine the conduct of the principal individual and any collaborators, as well as the wider circumstances that enabled a fictitious body and a false claim of presidential appointment to appear legitimate.
The investigation will cover the origin and use of false official documents, the processes through which official recognition or diplomatic support may have been sought or obtained, the opening and operation of any related bank accounts, the source and movement of any funds involved, and the role of any public officer, private individual, financial institution or intermediary that may have facilitated or participated in the alleged scheme.
The President further instructed the Commission to identify weaknesses in government and institutional procedures that may have been exploited and to recommend measures to prevent similar abuses.
All ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government have been directed to provide the ICPC with any information, records or assistance required for the timely completion of the investigation.
President Tinubu stated that the integrity of the Presidency and the institutions of the Federal Government must be protected against impersonation, forgery, abuse of official identity and the exploitation of weaknesses in the public service.
He directed that all persons found culpable be treated strictly in accordance with applicable law.

If you actually believe anything will come out of this, then you must be daydreaming.
ReplyDeleteDidn't he give consent to the budget that made provision and allocation of funds to that agency? Is he now saying he doesn't know what goes on in his own government?
The corruption under this administration is monumental.
There are reports from the IMF of a missing 8.8 trillion. I hope you realize what that amount could do if it was genuinely used for good.
When I say Nigeria is far gone from redemption, it's not a curse or hate speech. It's because of reasons like this. Unfortunately, they will never allow a competent person to govern.

Let's wait and see the outcome of their investigation.
