In a post on Instagram, she used her Cane Corso dog, Baba Dudu, to explain that being close to someone does not mean you should forget who they are or ignore boundaries.
Ireti advised people to respect those who give them access to their lives and develop emotional intelligence.
She wrote

Not if you are self aware, understand and respect boundaries- yours and others.

Am i afraid of him? No.
Would he ever harm me? Not likely.
However, he is a Corso.
Does he let me touch him, rub his belly and give him massages? Yes.
Still, he is, a Corso.
Does he sit when I tell him to, stop when I say "no"? Yes.
That said, he... is... still... a ... Corso.
He welcomes me into his space, we play, cuddle, and run around. I chastise him sometimes, but in all of this I NEVER forget that he is a CORSO. I have taken the time to study him, his moods and mannerisms and engage him AND his space accordingly.
This, is how you manage access...
That person that allows into their space and grants you access "is still a Corso"...
They've just chosen to be vulnerable... With you.

ReplyDeleteShe is so right about boundaries. My cane corso Gigi, has such a temper, she is so dominating, she bullys my other dogs. But I let her know that I am the Queen of the pack. Team dog mummy 🐕
