The moment instantly went viral as students cheered loudly while she hugged him and handed over the unusual gift.
Speaking to BBC News Pidgin, Chinyere said
“I don’t have money for a 4matic Jeep, and I love that car. I said let me buy this little gift. When he was going to school, I told him to make me proud. If he’ll not be a bad boy or a dropout, I’ll surprise him that very day. He didn’t disappoint me. He has been respectful to the family, the village, and even the church. He is the church organist. He is a footballer. Everyone loves him, so I wanted to prove that I love him. Even if the goat was ₦200,000, I would still try my best.”
Promise said he initially thought his classmates were calling him to witness an engagement because they were shouting “say yes.” He was shocked when he discovered his mother had brought a goat for him. He said he felt happy, emotional, and not embarrassed at all.
