She explained that she supports dating or courtship, but she believes maturity and self-awareness are major needs in marriage.
She said, " The human brain is not fully developed till 26. Some stupid decisions our children take, it's not because they want to be stupid but it's that the brain is not fully developed."
Sharing her own experience, Rev. Christie revealed that she watched as many women lose dreams and purpose after marriage. So, she encouraged women not to put their ambitions on hold while waiting for marriage. She reckons that marriage should complement a person's growth and purpose, not become the reason they lost themselves.

God help us to discern what is good from what is bad. All this rules do not work. I would say leave the marriage talk for the professionally trained and God who made the rules. Its all about women coming first now. Biblically Sarah called her husband Lord and Abraham was indeed Lord over her
ReplyDeleteAs Christ gave his life for the church is how a husband is to love his wife
DeleteSubmitting one to another
Mere sinful mortal looking for lordship is the sport of especially insecure mediocre black men
Hmmm, life na 2 face o, growing up I saw my mum and many women around me praise their husbands to high heavens and put in their very best to make their husbands happy, many of them even had special plates for their husbands, they keep everyone away from the man's space when he is resting and the list is endless in return many of their husbands motivated them to get better in education, dressing, travel etc even when the women were reluctant, some were bought cars or anything nice before their husbands got one and the husbands will always be home on time to spend time with their families, I know some of such women who never ever went to the market because the husband had boys to do it for them, I know a lady whose husband sent her 8 siblings to America to study and even the woman was sent abroad to get more qualifications, some built or renovated the family homes of their wives and took care of their wives parents like their own, I can go on and on on the sacrifices I witnessed lots of men make, you will see a wretched family have their fortune turn around just because their daughter got married and the man had their living standard upgraded and how those women will never let young ladies rest about getting married now I keep hearing terrible experiences others had or have and I am wondering why some are lucky and some so unlucky or maybe some cultures have better men or do some cultures have better marital values than others? Because even till now I still see lots of women around me loving marriage.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I also heard of such cases but some women had it bad, Its not so common these days sha.

You are talking about a time wives accept some unacceptables, there was a time wives will cook and leave the house so the husband can entertain the side chick. Wives these days are less accommodating shikena. Even yanriyan no wan get mate again. That's why you see so many brutalities to step children in the north now
Delete13.51, go and learn more about punctuations. Now, regarding what you just wrote, go and ask those women how many years of their "long-lasting" marriages they were truly happy. You'd be shocked.
Delete16:21 you are correct.
DeleteThose days that the first anon talked about, the women accepted all sorts from their husbands, they didn't see anything bad in a man having side chicks, some men beat their wives and the women accepted all, they felt a man has the right to discipline his wife with beating like he does to the children.
Anon 13:51, you didn't live with them so you won't know what goes on behind closed doors. You only saw the car gifts and smiling women.
Many women nowadays don't accept all those nonsense anymore, that is why the men who had seen their fathers do all sorts to their mothers think the women of today are not good for marriage..
@ 18:59, you sound very bitter, not everyone is you or your mum who had a bitter experience. What the anon wrote is very true, some women had it good while some bad, not all husbands cheat.
Delete@ Fresh Petals, was it you that lived with all women to know they were all suffering? Misery loves company is what I sensed from your comment. Lots of Ladies these days are everywhere in religious houses crying for a mate, many suffer all kinds of heart aches from multiple partners before they smell marriage. The 13:51 writer is right, many women had it good some had it bad, it is not possible for every marriage to be bad.
DeleteAge is not full maturity. It's a 50-50 thing.

Personal discernment is crucial in marriage . Young or old .
ReplyDeleteSighs..
ReplyDeleteShe's blessed with depth of wisdom and very open about her experiences.
Good advice Ma
ReplyDeleteIt is well !!!
ReplyDeleteIkegwuru, it's well though 🤔
ReplyDeleteI agree with her. There is nothing wrong in waiting and it’s not like you are sitting there just waiting for someone to show up so you can start your life. You will be building your career, opening businesses, seeing how far you can go in life. There is nothing wrong in what she says. That said, there will always be someone who got married at 18 and have a great life, no divorce or problems. But many women who got married at early ages also have problems knowing who they are, they complain about their entire identity just being that of a mother and wife and wanting something else. Seek God’s guidance in everything and ensure your relationship with Him is on a strong foundation.
ReplyDeleteAfter her frontal lobe has matured after 25yrs
ReplyDeleteI agree with what she said but some children are naturally born with too much wisdom to make the right choices
