President Tinubu Lauded By BOI As N250 Billion Series 1 Bond Records Oversubscription

The Bank of Industry Limited (BOI) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support and executive approvals that enabled its ₦250 billion Series 1 Fixed Rate Bond to be oversubscribed within just five days.

The bond was issued through BOI Financing SPV Plc under the bank’s $1 billion Multi‑Currency Instruments Programme.
BOI Chief Executive Officer Olasupo Olusi said the strong investor turnout reflects confidence in both the institution and Nigeria’s domestic capital market.
According to him, the oversubscription “is a vote of confidence not only in BOI, but also in the capacity of Nigeria’s domestic capital market to mobilise long‑term capital for productive investment.”

Olusi noted that the swift investor response would not have been possible without President Tinubu’s executive approval for incentives that encouraged participation. He described the President’s support as a “positive signal” that strengthened investor appetite.

He added that the goal now is to translate that confidence into increased financing for Nigerian enterprises, driving industrial expansion, job creation, stronger value chains and a more competitive economy.

Olusi also disclosed that the ₦100 billion fund approved for BOI by President Tinubu will be used to blend the bond’s pricing and cushion high interest rates for manufacturers and other BOI customers.
BOI said the transaction significantly broadens its funding architecture by deepening mobilisation of long‑term capital from domestic institutional investors, complementing its established presence in international capital markets.
The bank highlighted that the strength and quality of investor demand, the pricing achieved and the breadth of the investor base demonstrate growing capacity within Nigeria’s capital market to channel long‑term savings into productive sectors.
Final subscription and allotment figures will be disclosed after approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission, as the transaction is still progressing toward completion.

Proceeds from the issuance will enhance BOI’s ability to provide long‑term financing across priority sectors, supporting investments in productive capacity, local value addition, employment and economic diversification.
