Actor Bob Manuel Udokwu Talks About His Most Challenging Movie Role And How He Builds Character From Script

In a vibrant Frankfurt atmosphere charged with celebration and legacy, Journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus sat down with legendary Nollywood icon Bob Manuel Udokwu, moments after he was honoured with the coveted Golden Legacy Award at the Nollywood Film Festival Germany and NEGA Gala Night on August 1, 2026.
The award crowned his decades of unwavering contribution to Nollywood, setting the perfect stage for an unforgettable conversation.

Stella asked '' Which movie role has been your greatest challenge ever? ''

BOB: ''The greatest challenge is yet to come because I will always scale through any role I’m given. But my role in Silk Worm was quite challenging. I played a world‑renowned professor who lives a double life and is a terrible pedophile. Getting deep into that character was tough. We shot for about one month this year. I accepted the role because the story will spark conversation and shed light on the issue of pedophilia in society''.

Stella asked again ''When you receive a new script, what is your process for discovering a character’s voice and bringing them from paper to screen? ''

BOB: ''The script provides clues for me to discover the character. Where the writer is available, I talk with the writer and the director. It’s a synergy — the writer’s imagination, the director’s vision and my embodiment of the character. All these help me bring the character to life''.

  4. So this new movie contradicts what he said earlier about only acting movies that you can learn something from. This is why I insist movies and music are entertainment not a lecture.
