The bizarre incident was revealed by the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command in a series of short posts on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the police, the young man walked into a station and filed a complaint, claiming someone had offered him ₦80 million to supply a human finger. When he could not find anyone willing to give up a finger, he allegedly used a knife to cut off his own and handed it over to the person who made the offer.
He later returned to the police, accusing the recipient of refusing to pay the promised ₦80 million.
Police have since arrested the alleged recipient, who is being detained at the Command headquarters in Bompai. The suspect reportedly told investigators he did not ask for a finger, but for a bone from the forearm of a living person.
The police say they have recovered the severed finger, and an investigation into the disturbing incident is ongoing.
