We used the hurricane lamp long ago. Now rechargeable has replaced it 😀

The first one is called “Mpalaka”,my grandma used to have it,pour kerosene inside the bottle then pass the white thread from the cover of the bottle down inside such that it could be soaking the kerosene inside the bottle when you light up..

Those days at Aba too in the early 2000s,every store that sells at night have it like two
Or three at various corner so you can see the goods they exhibit at night,that was before rechargeable torch was invented.

The second one na Lantern,we take turn to wash my mums Glass glove everyday;be careful enough not to break it for her😀,replacing it then was #50 for one.

Kerosene lamp,I know a woman in Durumi that is still uses kerosene lantern.

Used the kerosene lantern all through sec school. I would still use it now at night during winter as it casts a lovely ambience over everything . Its warm too. Not sure where to buy kerosene or where to store it.

Used both. Used to read indoor with the lantern and outdoor at my mum's shop with the atupa.
