Pinky's CORNER

There is a place called Awolowo in Ibadan, very close to Sango. There is a T‑junction in that area that leads to Secretariat, Sango, Bodija, etc. A particular car was parked just right after the U‑turn (which is very wrong). A particular Keke Marwa was coming with speed while another bike man who was coming from Sango ignorantly negotiated the junction without looking well.

The Keke rider, who was on speed and couldn’t control himself, tried avoiding the bike man but hit hard at the car parked just very close to the U‑turn. We ran so fast to rescue them because the woman sitting right beside the Keke man had been pressed down.

A guy was pulling her bag instead of helping us pull the Keke that had pressed her down. Thank God she had strength and shouted “my bag,” which made us know someone was trying to steal that bag. We were able to pull her out of the squeezed Keke and, glory to Jesus, she had no injury at all but guess what? The bike man who caused the accident lost his two legs without the Keke hitting him.

He broke his two legs. His bone came out of the flesh. It seems when the Keke man was struggling and trying to avoid hitting the bike man, the bike man also couldn’t control himself again and fell off the bike, and an oncoming car ran over his legs. So painful. We had to rush him to a nearby hospital and left.

Speed kills, but these people no dey hear. They overspeed all because of drop‑off, and it’s so annoying to see Nigerians going after people’s property at an accident scene. What happens to humanity? What happens to saving lives? Why are we so greedy?
Well, we did our best but couldn’t wait to know how or what happened to the guy we took to the hospital after we used his phone to call one of his people and described the hospital.

  1. That place is a very dangerous junction. Those traffic warders who do allow cars to park close to that junction should be faulted.

I'm always been careful when I go to Gt bank just adjacent the junction
