This boy, then, was always beating his younger cousin sister for going to Pedro and also taking hard drugs. Now, he is the chairman in those things after wasted years in university (no certificate, no nothing). This boy gets so scared whenever he is told I am coming around.
When I got to Lagos, I asked for his line while with his mother and put the call through. He said he was presently at Ikorodu and that he would be back the same day around 3 pm. I responded nicely and told him I would be patiently waiting for him because we needed to see, but I had another plan. I had been told where I could find him, and I knew he would deny it by telling me he was not around at the moment.
I called another cousin of mine who stays very close to that area and asked him to give me four guys, and I also called some friends who are still active around Bailey (Somolu) to meet up. We all marched down there. We caught him unaware.
He wanted to run, but we bundled him, and I made sure he received a baptismal beating on the spot. He was begging and promising not to take drugs or go to Pedro again. I did not listen to him. Some of his guys came and wanted to interfere, but there was nothing they could do because I was with my men and had also given one other guy there a hint of what I was coming for.
I was only able to bundle him back home without his cousin (a young girl of seventeen years). When we got to his mum’s place, I made him sign that he would not take drugs again, and if found, he would be sent to Abeokuta (Aro), and that is where he would be for years. He pleaded, and we allowed him.
I spoke with the mother and made her realize her own fault because when this boy was growing up, I noticed too much love from mother to son. You could not correct him; she was overprotective and pampered him unnecessarily. This made him become so useless for himself and unable to do anything on his own with his mum. When we talk about his father, hmmmm. Minus one.
I made sure I drafted a plan for both the mum and the boy in question. This will, in one way or the other, put him on the right path. His phone was wiped and all contacts deleted to avoid contact with so‑called friends who are also into drugs. I asked the mother to immediately pay for what he chose to learn to get him busy and also made follow‑up plans to checkmate. It was not an easy thing because it took me two days before coming back to Ibadan. Parents should try as much as possible to train their children well and stop pampering one over the other. It is time we comb our environment and get rid of these drugs killing the future of our young folks.
You need to see beautiful ladies and girls and handsome men and guys wasting their precious time taking drugs. How I wish I were so powerful to the extent that I could give anyone who sells drugs death by hanging before dealing with buyers.
I weep for this generation.

God bless you Pinky for helping out.
ReplyDeleteOver pampering a child has it's own disadvantages.
I pray that the young boy follows the right path.
Instead of you guys to look for how to take him to rehab, you got people to beat him up. Are you for real? Was that the best way to handle the situation? How long will you continue to arrange boys to beat him up.
ReplyDeleteDey play, you think beating him is the best? He should be sent to a rehab first
ReplyDeleteGod bless you. But the guy might need rehabilitation to ween him off the drugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you for helping them out
ReplyDeleteMy mum still overseers mt brother who is in his late 40s. Still gives him money and his lazy self does not care
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr Pinky for helping your Cousin ,it was Noble of You,I think the young Man should be taken to A rehab center,so he can be treated over his drugs intake.
ReplyDeleteHe might be scared now because of the beating but Chances are he might also go back to " Pedro"
The rate at which this Genzees are introduced to drugs and alcohol is alarming.
May God help us train up our Children.
He is an addict already, he needs a total rehabilitation.
ReplyDeleteLet’s assume they don’t have money for rehab, the first step is to take him out of that area. He should be taken far away from where he can see old friends or get in contact with the drugs.
Poor boy. I hope he doesn't relapse, most of them actually need rehabilitation before they can function properly.
ReplyDeleteThe boy needs a rehab center, he is an addict already
ReplyDeleteWell-done pinky
Pinky you did well. Drugs have destroyed a lot of young boys and girls. It's a scourge i must say. He need to learn a skill to himself busy.
ReplyDeleteAre you ok? How did he do well? Someone is into drugs, and the only way he could handle it was getting thugs to flog the boy.
DeleteWth is cousin‑nephew?
ReplyDeleteCousin sister?
What’s that
The boy is so lucky to have someone like you who cares about him and his future. This kids are just wasting away and their families are tired.
ReplyDeleteMay God save our youths from this drug pandemic.
