Police Officers In Lagos State To Get Free Public Bus Rides For 3 Months

The Lagos State Government has launched a welfare programme giving 2,000 police officers three months of free, unlimited travel on all public transport in the state.

Under the Sanwo‑Olu Cares Initiative for Police Officers, the beneficiaries can ride the Blue and Red Line trains, BRT buses, and electric boats at no cost and after three months, they will receive a 50% fare discount.

The government said the initiative is to appreciate officers for protecting lives and property and also marks the third anniversary of the Lagos Blue Line.
It comes alongside other recent support, including free eye tests and prescription glasses for police and NDLEA personnel. The programme is also expected to encourage officers to use Lagos’ expanding public transport system.
