The change was announced by Tanzania's Immigration Services Department on September 28, 2026, after amendments published in Government Gazette No. 246 of 2026.
The decision reportedly takes immediate effect.
Under the old system, Nigerian nationals were subjected to a special clearance process. They had to get approval from the Commissioner General of Immigration before a visa could be issued, a process that could take up to two months. Applicants were also advised not to book flights until approval was granted.
The process for Nigerians to get a visa to enter Tanzania is now much simpler and faster. The referred visa system will still apply to several other countries.

DeleteThe two times I have gone to Tz... I really suffered to get visa, even my office in TZ went to great lengths to get it. Anyway that is why I have never been to Zanzibar.
