Comedian Julius Agwu Talks About His Ailment And How Friends Abandoned Him...

Veteran Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu broke down in tears as he recounted how some of his friends allegedly abandoned him after his brain surgery. He got emotional while appearing as a guest on the Beer Parlour Talk Show in an episode titled "Julius Agwu - Back From The Brink."

Speaking during the interview, Agwu reflected on his contribution to the Nigerian comedy industry, explaining how he coined the term "musicomedy." He said,"Of that alleged comedy, na me stay, I stayed and form that coinage. That music-comedy, yes na me form am to tell you how my brain dey think na him make everything."

Midway into the conversation, he became overwhelmed with emotions, removed his glasses, and repeatedly apologized before appreciating those who stood by him during his difficult period. He further opened up on how some people he considered friends, including a former manager he referred to as a bishop, stopped communicating with him during his health crisis.

"Anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me............My friends deserted me. This bishop wey dey talk now, he was managing me. Collect my money, do everything, then stop talking to me, many of them, but God no go leave you," he added in tears. The hosts were seen consoling him and reminding him of the impact he made in the entertainment industry with shows like Crack Ya Ribs.

Julius Agwu had brain surgery in 2015 after being diagnosed with brain lesions, a health crisis that kept him away from the spotlight for years. It was also alleged that his spouse abandoned him for same reason

  1. If you haven’t had a serious health issue or close to someone who has,!you won’t understand where he’s coming from.

Humans are very very very fickle! And Nigerians are worse cause na we call God pass.

My husband had partial stroke… the way friends and even family turned still shocks me till date.

People he’d go above and beyond for, they disappeared. One work colleague that he gave lots of deals that made him money, na that one actually off me. And he can shout God God on social media from morning till night.

This particular person made me hate anyone that’s so religious online - they are performative as eff.

But we still thank God for the few genuine people that still show up.

    Na so life be o.

    2. 14:43 i totally understand you and this is why the Bible tells us that the arm of flesh would fail you ... as someone who has also had my own experience I'd tell you that there are only a few people in this world that genuinely care. What ever you do just do it for God and humanity never expect anything in return.

  4. A lot of humans are loyal to themselves. I learnt these early in life. I used to be someone who would go up and above for others. I WAS yes WAS the kind of friend everyone would pray for. I gave without expecting anything in return but not anymore.
I am not bad can't even be if I tried but I am not as nice as before. I am not the kind of person who cares anymore. Before if my friends were in trouble I would stand by them financially, emotionally and all but I was surrounded by narcissists, users, emotional vampires, gaslighters and entitled pricks. Honestly, I feel sorry for those who are my friends now not because they are going to pay for what they didn't do . But I am just so indifferent that if you think you are going to rely on or receive empathy from me, you are wasting your time and I don't even expect it from you. You will have to prove yourself first and more than once to get even any form of deep or close interactions with me.

  6. People are very funny when it comes to illness, even close family members. Mothers are probably the only ones who will be there through thick and thin. A mother’s love is the closest to the love of God on this earth.
