The families revealed this during a visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland...They were accompanied by the state Commissioner of Police and the Aseyin of Iseyinland present.
The graduates were travelling in two buses along the Owerri Onitsha Road in Umunoha, Imo State when gunmen attacked and took them away and have been calling the parents through the victims’ phones, demanding fifty million naira each and threatening harm if the money is not paid.
The Olubadan assured the families that efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims unharmed, while the police say they are working with Imo State authorities.
Security agencies have intensified operations, and drones have reportedly located the suspected camp, but explosives planted around the area has slowed the rescue mission.
The Inspector General of Police Disu has deployed senior officers to coordinate the search.
